Rising (DayZ)

How are you liking DayZ so far?

Recommended Posts

I don't officially represent any group of people, but I think I speak for many when I say that I am pretty hyped for this game, but I haven't bought it yet. Waiting for ol' steam to put it up in their flash deals. When it does, thousands and thousands will open their wallets, but for now, the principles of a deal hunter says we should wait a few more days when its clear that steam will cater to its fans soon enough.

Would be nice of people left a note saying how long since they started playing, how they are enjoying it, did it live up to expectations (hype)? And any personal feelings towards the game in general.

We're all just waiting in the wings, reading the forums, watching vids, hoping to join you soon enough!

Besides having died from some random shot off in the distance of which I had literally no time to react and no time to think at least 4 times now. Its pretty good.

Pretty vague but I'm not in one of those, typing moods.

What? It's been on sale on steam since the start of their summer sale....

And it's been on sale on BIS website for some time....

Also, you could have gotten in 200 hours of play in the time you waited to save $7-8 :P

Been playing since about the start of June, it's great, way better than expected.

I think I played the game almost 100 hours, that's more than any other game. Best game I ever played, despite all the bugs, but I've got a biased opinion as I love permadeath full-PvP games.

It's definitely not for the faint hearted. I can't believe my eyes when I see people complaining about getting killed and losing all their inventory... as if it was "unfair" and the game was boring because of that. Losing everything is what makes the game so intense. That's the first time I ever shake of fear, excitement and adrenaline rush in a video game.

My best moment so far was with my small squad of 4 players, we were in a truck full of weapons, ammos and car parts, we were driving down a hill and I saw a car in the distance. And I was so excited because that was the 2nd car we found in 2 days. And then I saw faces in the car. I shouted "THERE ARE PLAYERS INSIDE, GET OUT, GET OUT, FIRE!!" I was firing at them, our sniper shot one of them, we almost destroyed the car, we ran to get the loot. Not being able to aim properly because your hands are shaking and you're sweating IN REAL LIFE is so awesome, that's exactly what gaming should be. It reminds me of old games from the 90's, where you had to finish games in 3 lifes or you had to restart from the beginning. There is a real challenge and you really feel like you accomplished something when you succeed.

Even getting killed and losing everything is fun, you've got to start from the beginning, but it's fun trying to find some shitty weapons and a few can of beans, attacking a supermarket with a hatchet and killing a dude with a gun inside...

God I love this game!

The intensity s really present in this mod, especially when you ahve no food and are about to tarve to death. After avoiding a bandit in Cherno, I decided to go to elektro to look for food when i ran into a recently spawned player being mobbed by zombies. I took them out and saved him, but got hit pretty badly in the process. He ha no food, so i sent him on his way and proceeded to move into elektro as the sun went down. I couldn't see anything after getting halfway to the supermarket, and threw a flare to light up the place (a dumb idea if it had been a populated server) and ran through the buildings at full sprint looking for food. I finally found a can of pasta on a dead zombie and ate it in the nick of time.

I was still low on blood and decided to get out of the city before i ended up dead. I snuck to the north of the city, and accidetally alerted some of the zombies near the power plant. I ran for a ladder but one cut me off and I was forced to pause for a second and shoot him. As i did that, the one chasing me smacked me in the back of the head when i turned around, but i managed to put a bullet in his head right before i lost conciousness. As i lay there out cold i saw more zombies stumble by, barely illuminated by my distant flare as I thought "This is it for me, I'm a goner."

They kept walking, aparently missing me because i was lying down and out cold. As soon as I woke up, I was barely able to scramble up the ladder to the roof and bandage myself before bleeding out because i was shaking so badly, in the game because of pain and IRL because of the close call.

As stated above, the Arma bundle was 20% off for awhile - I'm not sure if it still is.

Day Z is great - I actually have yet to rage while playing it, even though I'm the most competitive and rageful gamer I know

Honestly, this game is like a bowl of cocoa pops; It's fresh and crunchy when you start, giving you the feel of something different. Then as you progress through it and spend more time on it, you get to finally taste the sweet chocolate milk of Day Z - friends, enemies, zombies and loots galore.

Are you really going to say no to cocoa pops?
