Bicycles?

Recommended Posts

So I heared Bicycles are in this game.

Where are they?

How common are they?

IMO they should be seriously common, I mean this is pretty much a giant Russian country-side farm town place. There are hundreds of small farm towns and should atleast a half dozen Bicycles in each one.

Before the apocalypse there would have been an economy in denial and Sergei would have to take his Bike to the store or the local farmer's market to get eggs. Amirite?

I've been to a lot of farms and other houses and haven't seen a sincle means of transport. Would also make sense as this is such a giagantic world.

:)

  • At the small building West of the green house between Novy Sobor and Guglovo (GR: 079081)
  • Two Bicycles spawn at the Lighthouse between Chernogorsk and Elektrozavodsk (GR: 083128)
  • At Prigorodki at the three Barns (GR: 080119)
  • At the Stary Sobor Military Base
  • On the main road leading North/North West out of Komarovo
  • On the main road, next to the railroads, west of Komarovo (Right North of the lighthouse on the shore)
  • In Zelenogorsk on the main road that leads to the East
  • On the secondary road that leads south out of Bor (Closest to Komarovo)

I'm not too sure on how old this is and if it still holds up, but it might give an indication to where you might find some.

EDIT: Nice ninja there Killa ;)

So im finding the wiki to be incredibly indescriptive. i was hoping to find images of where the bicycles can be found but after a long time searching ive only found images for the spawn locations for two bicycles. I am hoping some one knows where to find images of the locations or atleast can provide a more accurate description than the wiki's useless one sentence descriptions.

Sorry I don't have any pics.

The damn things are never where they are supposed to be. They are either already taken, or never spawned in the first place.

One place it spawn and is not listed on the dayz online loot map that everyone uses:

The NE AF. Go just NE of it a little more, and there is a hill with an antenna on it. Around that antenna is a fence. The bike will be right up against the fence, to the right of the opening.

Good luck!

And when you find one, be careful in the woods. The downhills can be a bit rough.

When you see spawn locations for bikes on the various website, it's not a guarentee that they will be there. First off, by default, there's a 60% chance that the bike will spawn (same for all vehicles), then there's a limit to the number of bikes that can spawn on one map by default.

On my server, I have custom spawn points for all vehicles and I have bikes all along the coast. They are very common. I also placed a number of bikes in small villages throughout Chernarus. All of my vehicles are respawned on Sunday mornings and start will full repair and fuel.

No, they shouldn't be seriously common.

They go as fast as cars.

They make zero noise.

They don't attract zombies or players.

Running a player/zombie over is immediate death for the pedestrian.

Doesn't require fuel.

Very easy to repair.

The only thing better than bikes in DayZ are helicopters, and that's only if you're good at flying.

They shouldn't go as fast as cars (I never paid attention..). They do make some noise and they DO attract zedz. Sure, they're easy to repair... they're bicycles.... Oh, and flying is easy. :)

To put it into perspective how valuable Bicycles are, I am a Hero player and prefer to help people.

But I will not hesitate to gun a bambi down for his bicycle.

- super fast.

- No fuel needed.

- does not attract Zeds.

most of the bandits on my server get around on bicycles.

In response:

They go as fast as cars if going downhill and then if you need to turn or avoid something.. good luck. Enjoy the crunching noise, blood loss and long pass out time!

Zero noise - but zombies agro off them like you're in a frigging tractor distance-wise.

You hit a zombie then your bike breaks and you fall off. Not sure with players as I have never hit one.

Yep. No fuel, AND no inventoy AND no headlight.

Easy to repair IF you can find two wheels. Often where they break (on rocks or trees) then you are a long way away from finding two.

You can and will be pulled off your bike by zombies and then the bike takes damage.

One person only

You are a moving target but still a target with NO protection.

I ride them a lot, and try and keep a stock of two for medical runs. They're great for getting to people quickly.

The DayZDB map isn't very accurate. Where you see a marker try and think about somewhere near it where someone might leave a bike IRL. Often in back gardens, leaning up against greenhouses or fences.

They're great when they work and they are fantastic off road, but as soon as you come a cropper on one you'll think twice about getting on one again :)

They are actually quite common if you know where to look.

-rebuttle response expression displeasure for the bicycle-

It seems we've had different experiences :)

But yes, the bicycle makes really awkward turns that often result in crashes, break your legs, and wreck their tires immediately, but if you don't bring them into cities, poor handling *should* be a non-issue. I don't use my vehicle's headlights at night unless I'm behind someone and don't want to run them over/don't want to go offroad. I'll flash them and say hi, and if they're in NVGs/shooting at me, I'll flash them again and speed up.
