Barcode Player Names

I've got 5 or so players that have decided to use barcodes as names : IlIIlIIIIl (i's and l's). They've been around for 2 days now.

It is literally a pain in the ass to figure out who's who in the logs and check for dc'ing, hacking, scripting, etc.

Should I just ban them? Or kick them with warnings?

And I don't want to hear the carebear bullshit about 'its against the rules to ban someone because their name is inconvenient'. Therefore Ander can just skip posting on this thread.

Just want to know what the community thinks.

edit: If you legitimately think I should leave them be, then thats another story other than the half assed dayz rules part.

It's obviously abuse, so yeah, do what you think is right. After all, it's your server.

personaly i think that people you hounestly expect of hacking or are helping to aid hacking should be deffinatly banned first, although this isnt our desicion its the devs at the end of the day, they make the rules as to what we can and cant do with our own servers. personaly, i say yes, ban em if you know one of them has been hacking and the rest are making it difficult for you with naming conventions....

whats the harm in banning someone that is suspected of doing that and then letting them apeal later on.....

Just some admins that have had a power trip with the ban/kick tool that have ruined it for everyone im afriad

no i personaly would ban em, and write a forum post inthe correct area stating there ban, and for them to apeal there if they wished....

That reminds me of half a dozen "lollipops" (lollipop, Iollipop, IolIipop, etc.) that showed up on the mighty GdI Server once... :)

Assuming the logs are in plain text: how about using the search function of a decent text editor (one that hilights your searches) to track them?

they are in plain text, but why are they making it a pain in my ass to differentiate them? Why even do it? They are not any clan I can find. Seems like they know its a pain in the ass and thats why they do it.
