Which survivor is the legit survivor?

Alright, so I had been playing this particular survivor for several days when he met his end in Progorevka when I had a shootout with another player, we both died. Immediately upon respawn I noticed I was in Kamenka which is not far away. The server was sparsely populated so I figured why not, I had alot of good equipment that I could possible salvage. I sprinted NE all the way to Progorevka and looted my dead body and took whatever I needed from the other player. It was pretty late at this point so I went to bed.

This happened on US 138 but as stated the previous survivor that I looted from is many days old and has been on multiple servers with no problems.

I wake up this morning and I am prompted to make a new survivor, I am hardly upset, it is alpha. Whatever.

After a few lives of elektro/cherno shenanigans I find a player prone in a tent at Cherno with a DMR, I hatchet him up and take his stuff then retreat to some apartments. I log out to take a quick break to eat then when I join a different server I am now playing the 1st survivor that seemed to of disappeared.

I have since bounced around on multiple servers and realized both seem to exist on varying servers. How can I tell which one is legit and which one is from some kind of error?

Wierd, I did read a post yesterday where the same thing happened to someone. I'd contact support.

This was happening to me last week after the patch, After playing both on different days I ended up getting killed in cherno on my 2nd character. I then spawned as my 1st character up in novy sobor o_O while being on the same server. Was pretty happy that i had all my loot

yeah, this happened to a buddy and I the other night as well. We logged into a server together and had to create new characters. We were a little upset that we had to start over, but quickly noticed something was off. Elektro was on fire. A little while later, jets flew overhead and the city lit up on fire again. Windows blew out and we were disoriented. It was interesting to see, but something felt off.

We tried another server and sure enough, there we were, back to our original state in the bodies we left behind the day before.

happened to me. made a character and had to switch servers about an hour later. had to make a new character. over the next week i bounced between them. finally killed one, and now i just have the other one. was not prompted to make a new character after the last ones death.

I have heard that the "sanctuary" servers are open ground for hackers. Perhaps this is what you encountered?

Similar experience here.

Gave my newly spawned friend an FN FAL. Next day when he logged on he had a new character to create and my FN FAL was gone from my backpack but I was still on the same Character I've been on for days.

It was however right after 1.7.2 patch so I assume all of our actions weren't stored in the database and that period of time has vanished into thin air!

At least me and my DMR/NVG's are still alive!! :D

Sounds like you may have connected to a server with a Private Hive, either that or it was a bug. Assuming it wasn't a bug, whichever survivor you play as on multiple different servers would be considered the "legit" one, as the "non legit" one would likely be limited to the one server. If it was a bug, then alpha, nothing much you can do about it.

Sounds like you may have connected to a server with a Private Hive, either that or it was a bug. Assuming it wasn't a bug, whichever survivor you play as on multiple different servers would be considered the "legit" one, as the "non legit" one would likely be limited to the one server. If it was a bug, then alpha, nothing much you can do about it.

But that is the problem. I can connect to many different servers and some will have the survivor with the gear that has existed for many days on multiple servers while some other servers have the character with the DMR that I just started today.

By the sounds of it your switching between sanctuary and official servers. They do not store the same data. Stick to official ones that say only DayZ in the mission column.

I use six launcher so I have a little trouble telling which is which. The most confusing part is that as I said. The original survivor's gear has existed on many servers, including my favorited ones, but even some of those servers that loaded my old survivor now load my new one.

It genuinely feels as if I have two different survivors.
