Communication with players?

So after a long battle with my computer to get DayZ to work, I have encountered what you might call a "problem" in DayZ.

Whenever I try to talk to other players it seems that no one is there, even when im in a 64 player lobby. This is paralyzing my ability to communicate with other players, and I would appriciate if I could find a working solution to the problem.

Ive tried using all channels, but no response.

Help?

Oh and how do you use a flashlight? I cant figure that one out...

Flashlight: Right click -> Remove from toolbelt -> IT'll be equipped as a sidearm -> press L

As for the communication; there is currently no public chat. :P

The best there is, is direct chat, ppl within about 50 to maybe 100 meters can hear it, but that's it.

hmm I swear I saw a guy talking with other players on a video.... but what the heck.

I think there is still a way to force it on via the config file but I ain't sure on how... Regardless it would be serverside though.

1) Global chat is disabled in recent update. You can chat in direct channel (or others may be too) but only with those who are close to you in the game. You can't chat with whole server anymore.

2) Rightclick flashlight, take it from the belt. It will take your pistiol slot. Now wheel your mouse to switch to flashlight. Hit "L" key. You're have light now and is a very good target for nightcampers :)

Well that sucks, my guy just decided to take a plunge off of a hospital roof because I was trying to contact a player on the ground below. I tried throwing a road flare and ended up diving off of a roof.

Thanks to the recent update, it's done us so much good! -_-
