Now, I'd like to not kill and help others as much as I can, but the problem is that you cant really trust anyone, i mean i keep an extra gun and ammo in my backpack, so I cant trust anyone standing near me even when they have no weapons, because there is a chance they will take it and try to shoot me. So I cant really help anyone out at all, it does suck yes. If only people out in the world were generally more friendly and trustworthy.

I'm in the same boat. There is just no way to let people know you are not hostile without getting to 50m or less in range, which is quite rare and very dangerous. Even worse are the murders who claim friendly because they are in a disadvantageous position or without a weapon or ammo. Once they overcome this they are all too happy to betray you and kill you with your back turned.

I hear you man… when I first started playing I would try to help people out. I came across a guy bleeding to death and offered my assistance only to get murdered for my effort. My second character met a similar fate when asked if I’d help them with an airfield run. And recently my brother and I saved a guy from a group of bandits only to have the guy we saved shoot us in the back. It seems if you are not in a clan or squad with buddies you are sol. If you HOLD Caps Lock you will talk into the world around you. This is the speech communication in game. So when I hear gun shots or foot steps I call out while holding caps lock "I'm friendly but if you don't respond I will shoot." Half the time they walk into my room without talking so I have to take them for a wild card and shoot them. But if they do respond and they up and leave then they just walked away with no harm.

I’ve fallen for that trick before… how’s the saying go, trick me once shame on you trick my twice shame on me. I can’t recall the number of times I’ve heard “friendly” spoken over the chat only to get shot or shot at.

Ive had several friendly and helpful encounters. All me trying to help but still friendly. I healed a man who was bleeding to death. Another who was in a barn, I also shot the zombies for him as he didnt have a gun and gave him my shit makarov. And another who was being chased by zombies.

I still hardly trust anyone. I was running out of Pusta and there was some sniper laying in the grass next to the road (who the fuck just waits there forever?) and he started shooting. I said I was friendly. He asked if I had food. I said yes. *firefight begins* What an ass. I won thanks to my handy dandy hide behind a tree and shoot tactic though.

I've been killed once just walking through a construction site cause it seemed safe. People shoot first and ask questions later. Hell, i've never even laid eyes on a weapon. In every single one of my lives i've never gotten one, though i've found tons of ammo. I know it seems stupid to ask but anyone want to partner up? I don't mind if you check my pack or anything and help yourself to ammo I find. I'm just sick of dying cause of some bigshot with a pistol after i've avoided zombies for hours and scavenged for anything I could find laying around.
