Cars showing up on the map

Me and my friends have a little place we store our car and sometimes on the map, the car will show up all blue and be visible to everybody( We know this because our friend who has never seen the car came to us and said it was blue on the map, we were not in it). Now i know there is a set distance for people to see it on the map but we were wondering if anybody knew how far that range is. Is it just this server(only server ive had a car on) or is it the whole game? I'm not sure what to do or where to hide the car when we aren't on because i don't know if it will show up and somebody finds it because the map told them where it is.

It's a server setting. If you can see yourself on the map (little blue circle) then you will also be able to see zombies (orange), other players and vehicles.

The behavior is unpredictable and the range is odd. Sometimes it seems to be only a few hundred meters but I have absolutely confirmed a vehicle on my map from over 1000m away.

My advice is to avoid these servers. It's hard enough to keep a camp without people being able to spy it through the trees from a mile off.

That is a regular or recruit level server. The glowing shows off vehicles as well as players. Avoid these servers. Anywhere you go, anyone can see a nice big glowing circle where you are.

Stick to Veteran servers. All that is turned off.

I play on a veteran server that allows third person. Every other setting is veteran

I play on mostly Regular because i have friends that are new to the game so saying its for pusssies or wahtever is wrong. It's for people newer to the game so they can learn the map and such. No need to be rude and shove your preferences upon others. You do what you want i'll do what i want. :)

If you are playign with new friends, go to a veteran server.

The gameplay is no different, the zombies are exactly the same.

The difference is in the settings around crosshairs on screen and how OTHER PLAYERS CAN SEE you at a distance.

If your friends are new, it would be better for them not to be spotted 2 miles away and hunted because they glow nice and bright at distance.

You guys will learn the map just as fast and stay alive longer. (Go download a good Chernarus DayZ map online and print it out or keep it up in the background. That helps a lot.)

nope you are wrong

just maphelps there are veteran servers with 3rd and crosshairs. regular means you dont need navigate on your own and it makes all things visible on map.

so no reason to play regular as beginner, just for pussies as i said

regular is much harder and much more unreslistic. you cant hide and every sniper gun works perfect in close quarter combat because of crosshair. total bullshit
