Scorned 21 Posted July 16, 2012 Hi guys. Started playing DayZ on Saturday, and I've had no FPS issues so far, until today. Without changing any settings or installing anything on my PC since last night, the FPS drop in my game is to the point where I can barely play because it's so choppy and slow.I've tried some of the config tweaks, and I did notice for some reason my Video Memory was set to Normal instead of Default.Radeon5770 HD4 GB RamWin7
Jorden 63 Posted July 16, 2012 Here's some tweaks:AA should be offPost processing at off or lowestVideo memory at defaultobject detail at medium or lowerAlso it could just be the game clogging your video memory. Just restart the game and it should go back to normal. Either that, or your GPU is overheating.
Caviano 287 Posted July 16, 2012 Shadow quality should ALWAYS be on VERY HIGH.This allows the engine to work as it is meant to work instead of using more resources to cut back on the graphical detail. ergo: Very high shadows = better fps
Scorned 21 Posted July 16, 2012 Thanks for the input. I restored my settings to Default for starters and that seems to have cleared it up. Someone mentioned that lowering your settings switches from the GPU to CPU, is that accurate?
Vipeax 318 Posted July 16, 2012 Yes, effects like Shadow are rendered on the CPU if set lower and the game is already CPU limited for most people as it is.

Are there any more options that are like this?
Vipeax 318 Posted July 16, 2012 HDR seems to have that too, at least for me.
Zapekk (DayZ) 0 Posted July 16, 2012 (edited) Its just so weird that i had good FPS with graphics that i have been using so why i should put higher graphics?? Sounds so stupid. Edited July 16, 2012 by Zapekk
velyse (DayZ) 22 Posted July 16, 2012 I have been noticing the loot cleanup is kinda borked. On certain servers you'll notice they play alright at first then gradually the fps drops to the teens for even those with high-end cards and systems. At this point the zombies stop chasing and most of them just sit still. It gets pretty bad.
