For the horde

Recommended Posts

Given the overwhelming view of the community (and the fact that it's true) that zombies are secondary and not particularly threatening, adding some spice to fighting them could help. Once even mediocre gear is obtained, managing zombie attacks is rather simple with the only excitement occuring when they warp through walls or hit you through magic portals that only Zeds can see.

Here's my suggestion:

Gunfire triggers a horde. A pack o' zombies. A straight up mess of 'em. You get the idea.

Groups of 10-20(spitballing) zombies spawn en masse near the gunfire and rush the area. There would have to be a cap at the number of groups spawned in an area due to the high volume of shots heard in places like Cherno/Elektro. Additionally, a timer between spawns would have to be in place so each shot while fighting them wouldn't cascade the numbers on you. Add this horde to typical gunshot aggro and you can have a fairly large cluster of zombies rushing your position.

It doesn't really change their difficulty or make shooting all that more dangerous but it will waste a ton of ammo cutting them down and if you aren't well armed, it could get dicey. I don't want to see the addition of 'special' zombies or any of that but a group of two dozen zombies running in a pack down the streets at you? YES PLEASE.

Apologies if this has been posted before, searching revealed nothing similar.

Really they are fine how they are, make them any more deadly and im sure we will have too much trouble during firefights and loggin off will be ever so more common.

I think the occasional Mike Tyson zombie that makes you bleed out and break all your bones in one hit is more than enough.

The human survivor physique system needs work! Don't try and make the game harder by introducing some OP zombies. there are other ways to make this game more difficult...

- Adding fatigue, slow down movement after a while running (100m), not be able to run for long stretches after that. Add jogging for distances of about 12km, and getting realy tired after that.

- Adding weight & strength, not being able to run fast with 20kilo or more strapped on your back

- Cutting down inventory space and toolbelt slots, to make it harder to do everything

- Tweaking spawnrates (or work with tiers on loot buildings, giving better loot as they aren't looted, but drop in tier after they are looted)

- Simply spawning 1 or 2 more zombies per location per player.

- giving more ways to deal with broken bones (splints f/e and adding 'time' to heal from broken bones when splinted or even casted (6 bandages) only being able to walk, and run for short stretches giving HUGE pain, add crutches to restore ability to run, but still with pain build up. Reducing strength if broken so even slower with more weight, and morphine now only relieves pain from running with a splint or cast!) - then restore breaking bones to it's former commenality...

- Add food poisoning, vomitting and other kinds of infections (esp. after being 'cut' and bleeding)

Well i am fairly sure those things would make the game harder and more frustrating, without creating OP zombies...

A persisently spawned horde would be cool to provide an unexpected threat that migrates around the map.

more isn't necessarily better (i.e. phasing in a swarm) but a more active class of Z's that provide a threat to high level players would keep things interesting.

"they can smell NVG's..."

A few wandering hordes would be very cool as well. In particular if they didn't keep to towns!
