Mustard (DayZ) 20 Posted July 15, 2012 Clans and military rank structure has always eluded me.....I been in for 8 years (Army Infantry) and why the hell would someone want to join a clan that's just like being at work.

Vexus 25 Posted July 16, 2012 Unfortunately, without air superiority, a single sniper will take out your entire organized platoon as it blunders through the wilderness.Small groups are key... but um... well, lol.. I guess if you have 40 people you could all just hang in a single server and kill zombies all day with no risk of dying!
Cormac McCarthy 15 Posted July 16, 2012 doesnt sound right in the dayz setting, unless you like being the bad guys.
meta87 25 Posted July 16, 2012 Clans and military rank structure has always eluded me.....I been in for 8 years (Army Infantry) and why the hell would someone want to join a clan that's just like being at work.It is a matter of opinion and personal preference.I like to play with a large scale team in a tactical mil-sim enviornment.Unfortunately, without air superiority, a single sniper will take out your entire organized platoon as it blunders through the wilderness.Small groups are key... but um... well, lol.. I guess if you have 40 people you could all just hang in a single server and kill zombies all day with no risk of dying!Highly unlikely. With proper tactics, overwatch, patrols, communication, and training (reaction to contact drills, etc) a single player will not be able to take out more than 2-3 guys before getting dropped. Also if you see 40+ organized survivors in an area, are you really going to be dumb enough to think you can shoot and take all 40 of them out without them finding you after your 2nd shot.Cool concept. Thanks! There is a lot of things involved with the group. Should be good times once we fully launch.
gr33nth1ng 6 Posted July 26, 2012 Seems like a few too many people, but I like the idea of moving in fireteams and using military tactics to shoot and move.I played with a group of random 6 yesterday and kinda assumed a leadership role, and noticed that with 6 people some supplies, mostly ammunition, were sparce and most of the time I actually played with a hatchet. We divided into smaller groups of 2 or 3, and it seems that raiding a town with small fire teams was more efficient and alot quicker and quieter.
meta87 25 Posted July 28, 2012 (edited) We have officially launched our website. Be sure to check us out at http://www.survivaloperations.netOur core group holds enough equipment to supply an entire platoon in full at least twice. With a full squad worth of NVG's, Range Finders, and GPS's. So equipment is not an issue currently.Food supplies are easily obtained by hunting. Most of what we will be doing are raiding towns, presence patrols, attacking other clans, and large scale operations in large towns like Cherno, Elektro, etc. Vehicle recovery and additional FOB (forward operating base) establishments. In addition to DayZ we are working to get an ArmA2 server up with ACE mod, as well as servers in other games (TBD) for something outside of just DayZ for all of us to do. LeSpu 0 Posted July 31, 2012 Good luck on the platoon. 40 men is a little overkill, but a platoon consist between of 26-50 soldiers. So I guess it could be a platoon. I would join, but my current CPU can't handle this game as of yet.
