patgarret77 0 Posted July 15, 2012 Guys a simple question... I'm stuck with a Geforce 7900 GTX and a Core 2 6600 2.4 at the moment, and 2 gigs of ram.And I want to play Dayz... definitely. Can I just fix the problem changin the video board or it's better to change everything?Obviously I would like to play it like in the streams on twitch tv...pretty maximum detail...Can you give some general hint here?thanks! JESUSARIUS REX (DayZ) 163 Posted July 15, 2012 I would start from scratch. 2gbs is only enough to run windows and basic applications. Your cpu isnt awful but could be better. Dont know about your video card off the top of my head.
baijiaqing@gmail.com 14 Posted July 15, 2012 With those specs its better to completely upgrade it.
zyfer.nyholm@gmail.com 131 Posted July 15, 2012 maximum you would probably go for more ram and a new gfx, im on a 3.4 quad with 8g of DDR3 and a 9800GT and it laaags due to my gfx being crappy, but my new one is coming soon so i should soon be able to play on max/ultra(ultra due to config changes) so yeah, invest in a new gfx and see where that takes you, the 9800GT is already waaaay outdated so i would call your 7900 ancient :D i can recommend the Radeon HD 6xxx series
wok 25 Posted July 15, 2012 im running it on my second PC with a 8600gt, 3gb ram and a dualcore cpu, the game runs very well even with high video settings. I think with low/medium settings you should be able to play with your setup, but probably not in high.
krtshv 362 Posted July 15, 2012 (edited) Your specs are similar to mine (except that my GPU is stronger), and it runs fine, though everything is on minimum (Res' is 1440x900).The LAST thing you want to do is run ArmA at the maximum. Not because it's a resource hog, but because it's harder to see players.I've set my terrain detail to lowest, any plants more than 100 meters from me disappear, so I can see players hiding in them. patgarret77 0 Posted July 15, 2012 thanks guys, I think I will try and do it with 2 more gigs of ram and a new video board...in order to spend maybe half of what would cost a new PC. I'm really not into high end games in PC (mostly strategy) but Dayz is something different I really want to play.So can you suggest a good video board? By good I mean enough to run full spec (or almost) and still not spending an awful lot of money...

You'll probably end up with a bottleneck.
patgarret77 0 Posted July 15, 2012 Well...my benchmark is the streams I see on twitch tv (beand bandit and the like)... I can see they go for max details and still own other players... I also have the advantage of a super fast connection
patgarret77 0 Posted July 15, 2012 the bottleneck is the real point here... if it's sure it's going to happen I will go for a new machine. But it that's not gonna create big problems fixing with new components would allow me to save a lot of money...
