Gunnm 2 Posted July 15, 2012 I didnt read everything, but ( and some guys will probably be surprised ) i'm not interested in a purely PvE system.Infected are too easy to fool, and PvE servers without a separate network, DB, will screw up the current PvP system which is already a nightmare when 95% ( based on my experience so perhaps a bit more or a bit less ) of encounter is kill or be killed.Perhaps giving admin tools like i saw with counter-strike ( other FPS i played were UT2004 and UT3 where camping is sure death) to limit freekill camping, loot farming or other action that abuse the game rules...That way, you'll have pure servers, server with camping limitation, loot farming autokick... This kind of admin tools. Dont know if it exists ( i dont read about managing or owning a server ) so perhaps this is just something that admin can turn on without knowing it... Fleshwound1969 0 Posted July 15, 2012 Hi, new to the forums and the game, but i'm experienced enough from watching friends play to know how the game mechanics work. I too feel that adding PVE only servers definitely defeats the purpose of Day Z, but I do have an opinion on the obvious frustrations of the game in its current state...(and if this has been suggested then I apologize). This is supposed to be a post apolcalyptic game, and in any post apolcalyptic environment meeting fellow survivors all trying to survive off the same limited resources will inevitably lead to the worst behavior in men. The problem I see in Day Z is obvious...small environment and far too many survivors. When there are so many people logged into any one server it becomes a shooting gallery!!! Combine that with obvious respawn points along the coastline and almost any new survivor becomes an easy target for the bored players on that server. So the obvious solution then is many more servers with lower population limits, and perhaps more randomized safe spots for respawning.Cost is always prohibitive of the number of servers and without charging for the mod I don't know how they can implement new servers, but the respawn points should be possible I would think.I also feel that resources should be way more abundant in larger cities with an accompanying larger risk, ie...way more zombies and obviously way more survivors all vying for the loot. I'd also like to see them implement more failed strongholds, houses, buildings, or settlements where survivors tried to hole-up and survive but were overrun and left behind a randomly generated cache of loot.Just some ideas!!! Barney (DayZ) 9 Posted July 15, 2012 Excuse me if I sound hostile on the subject, but I'm hacked off the number of times people are killing me for absolutely no reason. Why no reason?? I HAVE NOTHING ON ME.Let's see...So far I've had someone shoot me in the legs and leave me to die, someone attempt to shoot me as I fled from zombies, and many more deaths when I'm casually dodging zombies looting rooms and BAM I'm dead.Needless to say I am ticked off at this point in time because it just happened yet again, and it happens every, God, damn, time.OK, people killing for beans? That's how it should be? No. I'm fed up of getting shot from nowhere and some other git is looting my body taking a whole packet of NOTHING.All I want to do, is "survive" with my friends. Trying to locate them is hard enough, finding decent equipment without being killed by another douche? Harder. So, I ask this. Why can't we have PvE servers where friendly fire is off?? Ok, a multitude of people will say "that's not the real experience" but what I say, is I'm fed up of this killing when I'm defenseless and constantly dying to these [insert profanity]. I'd be happier knowing I don't have to worry about some troll killing me. If we can't have PvE, why not, and what's being implemented to prevent this "it's a survivor, I'll just kill him for the hell of it"?? If we can have it, can we have it soon please?? I want to survive zombies NOT trolls. I have to put up with them in enough games thank you.(I made this account just to post this. Sorry if this has been posted before)(Also, I enjoy the game, just not the trolls)Sorry but if you don't like it.Then don't play the game.
llodka 4 Posted July 15, 2012 The result will be pretty simple: PVP servers will turn into a complete CoD style deathmatch, because if you are here, there can be only one reason why.Unfortunately it is already becoming this.

ZedsDeadBaby 2287 Posted July 15, 2012 All I want to do, is "survive" with my friends.Yes. But for some reason you want to do that by having the designers remove the primary challenge standing between you and survival.Tell me, how is survival an accomplishment once the primary threat to said is removed entirely from the game? Are you proud of yourself for standing around shooting stationary cows and clicking a few menu items? What are your accomplishments worth if they're never under threat? What does survival mean if nobody is trying to take it away from you?You want something to be proud of? Something to look at and say "I have overcome. I have achieved."?Then survive in world where nearly everyone you do no trust would as soon see your entrails spilled out on the ground as loan you a canteen of water. Then you can say "I have done something of note."Then you can claim to have achieved something.Surviving in a world populated only by plodding, predictable, scripted AI zombies is no accomplishment. It is child's play. Are you a child? No?Then stop acting like it and get out there and live.

Deviant (DayZ) 43 Posted July 16, 2012 Oh look, THIS thread again.DayZ is about survival. If you are not careful, you will not survive. Neither will your friends. If you treat DayZ as a "test" of your character, rather than a game, you will be better off.If your friend dies, you will feel horror. You lost your companion. You are now alone, against the gunman. This game is not about killing others. It is about survival. And sometimes, people will kill you in order to survive. It happens. Also, on a relevant note, there is no "endgame" other than taking one of the 3847956 guns you have stored in a tent city, going to a populated server, and gunning people down. This will all be changed soon.
