I don't get why so many people are completely opposed to the idea of building a shelter. Seeking shelter is a basic survival drive.

The survival purists on this forum who think it's realistic to live moment to moment without trying to establish a safe haven or some kind of supply cache are being hypocritical. People without a plan would be dead within a week or two in the event of an actual societal breakdown.

Details are not so important, as long as the bases can be more fortified and secure than the current state, but not 100% safe. Nothing should be safe in this game.
