ZedsDeadBaby 2287 Posted July 15, 2012 Is this counting the respawns trying to get back closet to your dead body or favorite spot on the map?Did you read like the very first line of the post with the red text in it? ;)
Shag 90 Posted July 15, 2012 it coincides with stronger zeds. people still shoot on sight, but the percentage reduced because zeds aggro much easier.
sixbarns 217 Posted July 15, 2012 (edited) 1. People who logout the second they get hit. They may or may not bleed out when they log into what safety blanket they use. That death doesn't appear to count.2. Patches, people not being able to get in, and slow servers are keeping people from logging in. In the past three days it's also kept a lot of people away from the coasts or high activity areas because the logins were so slow.3. Shooting a guy in the leg and letting the zombies eat him. Players don't always get a murder for this and it's pretty funny so people are doing it more.Just three reasons why the numbers could be falling. jonahcutter 51 Posted July 15, 2012 (edited) Does this mean I can expect not to get KOS by everyone I meet?lol noNot if you like your leet weapon spawns (not to far from WoW purple-fever, huh?) , and cans of beans. And that points out exactly the flaw in relying on raw numbers to determine quality of gameplay...This mod needs to focous less on l33t weapon spawns and more on surviving moment to moment, to realize its potential. Maderas 12 Posted July 15, 2012 (edited) I'm not sure this really proves anything other than that there are a lot of new players and they're not very good at the game. If Bohemia stopped selling ARMA 2 tomorrow and the influx stopped, you'd probably see the death-by-murder rate climb up into the ninety percentile range within a month or two. Most people who have played longer than a couple weeks don't die to infected unless they get really, really unlucky.Once you get further north than Pavlovo it is mostly "death match". There are exceptions, but in the month I've been playing I've met one friendly guy, and that was probably only because he was outnumbered 3:1 and was told as much when we got close. It doesn't bother me, though. Confrontation with players is really the only end game there is to partake in at the moment. ruecanonrails 24 Posted July 15, 2012 The biggest thing I take from this is the ONLY legitimate stat on there (I say that because the respawn spamming ruins the other stats). 17% of alive players are bandits. meaning despite what people rage about on the boards less than 1 in 5 people will shoot you on site, I'm also seeing more hesitation in murders which to me is a great thing to see, it shows the gameplay is evolving on it's own. deepfried 95 Posted July 15, 2012 (edited) The stats show that not all players take this approach to the game (despite insistence by some on the forums that it's the only way people choose to play).I'm fedup of people making massive broad assumptions on the back of a few useless numbers. How do you know that stats aren't being heavily skewed by noobs on the coast dying to zombies 20 time in half an hour? The biggest thing I take from this is the ONLY legitimate stat on there (I say that because the respawn spamming ruins the other stats). 17% of alive players are bandits. meaning despite what people rage about on the boards less than 1 in 5 people will shoot you on site, I'm also seeing more hesitation in murders which to me is a great thing to see, it shows the gameplay is evolving on it's own.No, thats just another bullshit assumption, how do you know that most of the other 83% aren't new or recent spawns, who will go on to be bandit or would if they had the skill/luck? These figures are utterly useless. Edited July 15, 2012 by Continuity
Vipeax 318 Posted July 15, 2012 As for the 'players / 24 hours'-stat having decreased --> with the latest patch handling the conversion of the player ID from numbers only to a string, a change occurred that needed a small fix in the stats query as well, I didn't take care of that yet and when I noticed it, I fixed it, which made it look like this:The rest of the stats weren't affected by this, just a FYI. DayZPvP.com 143 Posted July 16, 2012 (edited) Your numbers do not surprise me at all, only because I have seen evidence in the game to support your findings. I have noticed in the last week or 2 that the main cities are a touch more quiet. Regular patrols to the airfields and Stary have also been quieter than usual (not to say we don't have contact, just less).I am almost positive that most of the newest players have got the message to stay out of town and are off in the woods, there are fewer bean wars on the coast due to less of the 2 main ingredients: beans and guns. Fry (DayZ) 4 Posted July 16, 2012 hmmm,.... I don't believe this. I still think PvP is what causes most deathsYou don't happen to be a Republican by any chance? lol
Madfast 22 Posted July 16, 2012 Whilst interesting, I imagine any death stats will be skewed by people spamming respawn when they die to get a better spawn position, just like the average survival time is probably skewed by this. They are probably also altered by people committing suicide after getting away from a fight but deciding there injuries are not worth fixing and respawning is better. Not to mention all the people who break there legs due to bugs or otherwise get injured through bugs and commit suicide. So whilst these stats are interesting, and I do agree people think there is a bigger "bandit problem" than there is, there are so many factors that shift the results massively it is not really very reliable. Bribase 251 Posted July 17, 2012 There are a couple of possibilities for the suprising results in my mind.Maybe the inflated zombie kills are, as I'm sure has been mentioned somewhere, due to the massive influx of players that don't understand the stealth mechanics, are in the process of figuring out the Zed behaviour and get killed often because of stupid mistakes.I strongly believe that there are just as many PvP players out there but seasoned pacifists and neutrals are getting wiser and better at avoiding them. It's anecdotal, but I know my playstyle has changed dramatically over the last week. I scope out towns before I make a trip to the market, I've learned to use the terrain itself to limit LOS, I walk beside roads instead of along them. I'm sure the noobs have even wised up to hugging walls while in Cherno. There are as many PvPers but the likelihood of finding people who are new to the game to pick on is becoming less. This should be evidenced by a general increase in the average lifespan, corrected by not including respawns of course.
