the amout of hackers has increased everyday since i have been renting my server. If server owners were able to password protect their servers, the hackers wouldnt be ruining the game for us.

i have had to resort to shutting the server down and banning everyone that was logged in when the hack incidents happen. To limit the number of potential hackers, i have also reduced the maxping from 250 to 175.

Earlier today... Cherno was on fire and a helicopter was parked on top of the international hotel.

Hackers teleporting to people and shooting them point blank with an m107.

These hackers are destroying the game.

ROCKET, you took away pistols from fresh spawns as an experiment.

Next experiment: ALLOW SERVER ADMINS TO PASSWORD PROTECT THIER SERVERS WITHOUT BEING BLACKLISTED. allow this for a week.

To all the people who don't own/rent a server and are going to QQ about "unfair advantage":

i would gladly give the server password to people that don't hack or possibly DONATE to the monthly server fund. I would invite groups of friends and clans to play on my secure server. There would be no unfair advantage. There will be no random hackers.

if you still disagree about allowing password protected servers... move along... just go back to server hopping NWAF barracks and sniping noobs in Chern. This thread does not concern you.

Can you IP ban people, or is it just limited to kicking? I ask because I've read posts of other server hosts saying they can see stuff hackers do differently from us normal denizens, and thus they can be banned/kicked. If you can't IP ban people, then you should be able to PW your server so long as you aren't doing it just to loot the NWAF until you get some sweet loot.

Allways bear in mind: Not everyone has a static IP, in germany for instance it's common to get a dynamic IP out of the providers range everytime you reconnect and there are enforced reconnects every 24 hours. Thus banning by IP will not keep a hacker out forever and in the worst case might hit someone that did not hack if he happens to get assigned the banned IP.

users can be band by IP or GUID. The GUID is like a CD-Key and in my opinion the better solution.

i banned one guy who later tried to connect after changing his name several times. he was an obvious hacker. Alot of hackers will have multiple GUID's and and dont care if one or two of them get banned in a week.

You can change your GUID very easy, as long as BE does not global ban em they will come back with no afford...passwording is a good idea...its very simple to set up a little registration system for your server, so ppl have to sign up for a password. I would like it as a temp solution untill BE releases some efficient protection.

Well... just password protect it and then you'll have a private server. You can't password protect your hive server for one simple reason. To protect other players, if hosts could password protect a hive server they could farm all the good items and then hop onto another public server and demolish. So... if you want to password protect nobody is stopping you, but you'll have to be blacklisted, it's to protect the other 600,000 players.

I agree that servers should be able to be password protected.

Anyone locking their server and not inviting new players on a regular basis to come play are just shooting themselves in the foot.

think of it how most MineCraft servers do it. They just build a whitelist of players who dont hack. I would invite bandits and survivors alike, so long as they were not hackers.

This is a horrible idea, and WILL be abused if it gets put in. If you aren't fucking stupid, you would realize that clans will PW lock their owns servers for themselves giving them a huge advantage, etc, people will buy severs for themselves.

You have no idea what you are talking about, kindly fuck off because you CANNOT change your GUID, but you can spoof your Player ID.
