treecancer 43 Posted July 14, 2012 Realistic "Zombies" with custom animations - These once human creatures will act and behave as if they have a heighten sense of hearing and smell but less sight, on top of that they use motion captured animations such as walking and eating from your unconscious body. If you look into any built up area you'll see them walking around waiting for their next victim which dares to venture in.What I am wondering is, what happened to the "less by sight" part of that? I hope the new increased sight range of zombies is a bug. I know that in the hotfix it was decreased by 20% but it still seems a bit strong. Especially when you get spotted while prone and not moving, that is the real kicker. I feel like the old zed vision was just right, especially when they got the hearing buff. Unless a design choice was made and rocket changed his mind instead wanting them to see well in addition to hearing. If that is the case maybe fix the section on sight in the "what is DayZ" page?

KennyNZ 121 Posted July 14, 2012 You want the guy to be fucking with html on the index page of his website, or you want him to be working on hotfixes for bugs etc? We had 3 hotfixes out in the space of about 9 hours. You really can't expect every detail to updated in website descriptions constantly. At the moment things are going backwards and forwards, like they are supposed to during this phase. Things get slowly better, then they get worse very fast, then slowly better again. They will get the balance right eventually, then I'm sure everything will be updated when it's at a point where they're not going to change it again.
treecancer 43 Posted July 14, 2012 Ok just to clarify if it is unclear, what i was really asking is: Has rocket changed his mind about wanting zeds to hear more than see, that is all. I was just wondering If the reason it (zed view range) left the good balance it had found was because of a bug or because it was intended to.

In fact, that's half of the point of an alpha. We aren't just fixing drastic bugs, but making gameplay changes at well. People seem to forget that. Quality control comes in more at the beta.
