Sterling (DayZ) 22 Posted July 14, 2012 Seriously it's now impossible to play this game for me, I unfortunately didn't take notice of the forums when I went to update the game through Six Updater + Launcher + 94945 beta patch when I saw it. Since then I was able to play on ONE server that was 1.7.2.3 from Steam, and TWO other servers from Six Launcher. I grew angry because i had such limited access, so I uninstalled both Arma 2 + Arma 2: OA, then I went ahead and reinstalled both games, ran the 94945 beta patch, and ran both six launcher and six updater. After this I went back into steam to find, for some reason, my Arma 2 version is now only 1.60.87580, and finding playable servers is now literally impossible. Also, while I'm able to easily find the beta folder in the directory, I'm unfortunately unable to find it under the "Expansions" section of the Main Menu. While I understand that this mod is free, I personally purchased this game solely because of this mod, I paid $30 (just like everyone else, I assume) just so I can play this mod. I've put about 60 hours into it so far and I'd love to keep playing, so I'm pretty much freaking out. I hope this resolves soon.
Monstrous Treachery 7 Posted July 14, 2012 Blame Six Updater. A joke it's even "official".

Sterling (DayZ) 22 Posted July 14, 2012 (edited) QQ thread ALERT ($30 mentioned)learn how to do things manually, takes 5 minutes its not hard... http://dayzwiki.com/...to_install_DayZthe mod owes you nothingFirst you start out your post via a rude analytical comment.Next you do the "learn to" thing which only immature and childish trolls seem to do.Finally you end with declaring I expected the mod to do something for me, if it all of a sudden broke down, I'd still be somewhat satisfied as it took 60 hours of my time, much more than most games I've been playing. Please develop a little bit of maturity.EDIT: Also thought I'd say, I did everything that link told me to do, however, I'm only able to access outdated servers that no one is playing on. Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted July 14, 2012 It can be frustrating at times but that's the price we pay for being allowed to take part in the Alpha testing phase. Actually ,many people owned Arma before hand. The Mod has never asked for your money or been advertised. All of the publicity has been generated by fans of the Mod or industry journalists and people decided to buy Arma to play this Mod off of their own back. dontblamecows 5 Posted July 14, 2012 (edited) Technically he is right though, you are not owed anything, and people who keep saying this are using payment for Arma 2 as an excuse that a alpha game should be working perfectly fine. You bought Arma 2, even if you only intended to play DayZ, you still purchased Arma 2 for Arma 2, that is what your $30 gets you. This would akin to me saying I bought Skyrim only for the Blacksmithing mod, and if it were to bug out, then complain how I spent $70 for a mod that is free, yet I have a perfectly working base game.I would suggest following these instructions that I made specifically to get the game working without Steam or the SixUpdater. It will save you time and effort trying to fiddle around with automatic programs, and is probably the best setup. You also can manually get rid of the Arma 2 beta patch files to revert down from 1.61 and this also applies to DayZ and downgrading to lower patches.Okay this is how I got DayZ running, in the end it doesn't actually run through Steam, but there is a way to do that which I can link you to.First, make sure you've ran Arma 2 and Operation Arrowhead at least once to go through the installation steps.Steps:Download all the DayZ files from here ending in .rarExtract all the .rar files until you have a 14 files ending in .pbo or .bisignCreate a folder in your steamapps -> common -> Operation Arrowhead directory titled @DayZInside the @DayZ folder create another folder titled AddonsInside the Addons folder you just created, move the 14 files that you extracted previously into hereDownload the Arma II Beta Patch here (I strive to have the most up-to-date beta patch so keep an eye on AusGamers files)Once you've downloaded, extracted and installed the patch, time to get a bit trickyLocate the Operation Arrowhead folder again, and you should see a file called _runA2CO_betaRight click the file and create a shortcut, calling it whatever you would like, I called mine DayZRight click the shortcut and choose the "edit" optionNow scroll down to the bottom of the notepad file, and you'll see :run and then a line below ending in %9Select from :run all the way to %9 and past it over with this code hereAnd that is it! Just run the shortcut and it will automagically run the game for you and you should see in the main menu on the right hand side "Expansion @DayZ". If you don't, make sure you haven't missed a step.If you want to run it through Steam, there is a guide over here that can let you know how.
