Zombies ain't doing shit + no loot

Recommended Posts

Zombie spawning seems very slow and zombies are fewer and unresponsive so far on the servers I have been on. I have the updated beta and patch from today. Ping is very low as well. Here is a picture.. how many time have you been able to walk up behind one of these zombies and shoot them from this range?

I have been trying out more servers and now I am finding some that are responsive. There seems to be some servers that are different than the others, perhaps not updated correctly somehow? Either me or the server? Not sure what is going on but there seems to be some weird experiences going on. I can blame myself for user error, but I am pretty sure I am updated correctly.

Its got to be related to AI sensor radius detection scaling to server enemy difficulty rating if you can go to different servers and get different results.

Perhaps some servers were running a very low enemy_difficulty setting and now using a setting less than a certain numerical value completely zeroes out the 180 degree detection radius for zed AI.

Yeah I'm seeing zombies thats wont aggro + no loot, and also really long zombie spawn times in some cases.

I also do not have the debug menu.. what files am I missing then?? I've got 1.7.2.3 and my beta is 94876, right out of Rocket's thread I believe it was O_o

I'm using Steam if that matters. Should I do a verify on the files?

im finding loot fine, and if you want to fight some Z's just run on a road through town playing music through direct with an enfield.

Zombies are pretty dumb BUT they still can aggro from a far distance. But yes the threat isnt zombies its oh fuck that z is giving away my position, or oh fuck i have to shoot it but i dont want to drop weapon to get hatchet out and a player will hear me.

Dude, it's not like a bandit is pointing a gun at your head holding you as hostage, forcing you to play.

Test the game, post your feedback here and they'll look into it some time, maybe fixing the problem in the next updates.

Often, I think of alpha as the "add stuff and don't give a shit about anything but the most major bugs" phase and the beta as the bug-fixing phase. And my experience with the latest patch has loot and normal zombies. It might be server specific.

I'm an indy developer myself, I know how it goes developing alone or with a small team.

Sometimes shit breaks and you have to patch it and patching it breaks it more....it takes time to release a full stable and functional system.

Suffice it to say, I wouldn't be making a living off my game if it wasn't good enough to survive its development growing pains, and its damn obvious that Rocket is on the right track as well.

If I had a dollar for every developmentally ignorant malcontent on the internet, I wouldn't need to work 10 hours a day on my own game and I'd have enough money to turn an entire city of low income families into millionaires.

This. I used to mod games (made a massive 6gb mod for Star Wars Empire at War once) and you can easily tell when someone has never even attempted to make a mod for a game (by the way, XML files are easy). Plus, this is an alpha, it doesn't "Get Better". It gets buggier. Buggier and buggier and buggier until everything that should be added is pretty much there, and things that can be added get started on. And when Rocket and his team finally gets the ground floor working, he'll call it a Beta. THEN he will start to crush the bugs, WHICH WILL CAUSE MORE BUGS, and might even break the game in a few places. Then, either by shear hard work, or total luck, this mod will enter a period of time where it will be called, "Finished" and released as a product to buy.

And even then, it will be full of bugs. All games are. All software has, or gets, bugs. Hardware has bugs. Humans, as perfect as some people tend to think themselves, are bugged.

So deal with it OP, and to the other whiners, STFU. Either HELP by pointing out the bugs, and if you have ANY knowledge on the interworkings of the engine or the mod you can try to point out workarounds, or better yet total fixes. Until then, REALIZE that you are playing a free ALPHA MOD, and whining will be see as just that, with all the perks of being beseiged by the community and anyone that is tired of people thinking they can do better, or people whom can't understand the point of an alpha.

So. Play for FUN, but remember you are nothing more than a tester.

Just spent about an hour in Cherno on another server, running around and hatcheting zombies that were just stuck on the side of the roads. I was hoping that killing them would help them respawn and start pathing but that didn't seem to work. It seems like some servers don't have the issue, the ones where there are nametags and such seem to have the issue with zombies not aggroing or pathing.

Also to the person I lured into the middle of the road with the gift of a can of pasta.. um.. <3
