I'm a bandit already?!

Recommended Posts

So I logged in earlier for the second time and spawned on the beach near a harbor. Perhaps not the best move but I decided to have a look there to see if there were any supplies there.

On the perimeter I noticed there were zombies about, but I wanted to avoid them if possible so started to sneak around. I tossed a flare far a away to distract them a bit and to give me some light to move around better while they scurry around the light.

As I'm moving around, suddenly I get fired at. I managed to dodge most bullets but did get hit by one or two, I crouched away and hid in a corner. I tried to shout at my attacker to let him know I meant him no harm.

I bandaged myself and stayed put for a few minutes while the attacker stayer quiet, when I started to notice movement close to my position, obviously the culprit was looking for me and he had no intention of exchanging pleasantries. As he leaned around the corner I fired two shots at him and managed to take him out. It turned out he was a friend who returned fire at me. I took him out as well.

While the game-play was awesome, from my point of view I was obviously not the aggressor here, however now I'm suddenly flagged with two 'murders' and I'm labeled a bandit.

Now I understand this is how the game works, apparently they were new players too trying to get easy pickings on me, and perhaps take my stuff for some extra supplies.

However I'd rather not go around labeled a a Bandit for all my DayZ career, is there any way for me to get my humanity back from this ordeal? I was merely defending myself against aggressors but I have no intention of being a bandit. Is there any way for me to work my reputation back and remove my bandit status?

tl;dr

I had to defend myself against two players who were trying to take me out. I survived however I now have two murders on my hand and are labeled a Bandit. Any way for me to work my rep back up?

Thanks :)

Dont kill more survivors.Avoid all contacts.Kill bandits(?).

If you have a friend, use bandages on them whenever they bleed (+20);You'll slowly get your humanity back thanks to passive regen.

Oh,and good luck. Its great to see someone becoming a bandit(even if it was self defence) and willing to stay on the civilised side of survivors.

Heh, funny to read this story after teaming up with you for a bit last night against the wishes of a few of the other folks I was with. While I know the odds are slim we'll end up on the same server again if it happens I'll vouch for you. ;)

Good luck getting back to survivor.

Another thing about the loss of humanity that doesn't seem to be well known is each shot inflicted on the survivor count towards the loss of humanity, not just the kill-shot.

(Shooting a person 4-5 times in the body to kill will drop your humanity more than a clean headshot.)

This explains a lot :)

I pretty much emptied my mag into the second aggressor.

Pretty much pushed my humanity down to -2500+. I'm back up to -1150 now though :) Still a bit to go!

Ok so I got my Humanity back up to 500, but I still look like a Bandit :(

It makes grouping up with others impossible because no one trusts me (Which is totally understandable :) )

I believe being a survivor takes 2000 Humanity? If you want someone to trust you then you require them to be in Teamspeak or such so you can tell them.

I see, 2000? Wow, it was quite a hassle getting it back up to 500 from -2500+, but I'll keep at it! :)

Thanks for that info.
