Kashus 22 Posted July 14, 2012 I feel a little guilty. Like there is a part of me that just doesn't agree with what I have done...I only feel this way when they are by themselves and clearly were not expecting to get shot. I guess that is why most of the time I will not shoot. I almost wish I can talk to people before I pop them, but the distance makes it impossible sometimes or if they are lagging, their voice will be delayed long enough for me to get an itchy trigger finger. I was recently in a shopping center, looking for a backpack, had an Enfield. There was a guy in there with a hatchet out, I was thinking about letting him be, but he got close to me and I shot him twice, but he did not die. At the same time, his voice comes over telling me about what's in the mart in a friendly manner, then falls over dead. I felt genuinely guilty and I could not tell him I was sorry since he was dead. I want to say "Hey, I feel real bad for shooting you... I thought you were going to hatchet me and I am sorry, if I could somehow make it up to you, let me know." Fucking emotions! WTF! A game isn't supposed to do this to me...
mannyfresh 1 Posted July 14, 2012 I quit feeling guilty after getting smacked around when i first started playing a month or so ago.I regularly camp Balota and kill unsuspecting noobs in the tower all the time now. I have no compassion. Kinda like a straight face orgasam.
Miragenz 71 Posted July 14, 2012 Every single time i get killed i tell myself i will shoot everyone on sight, yet i havent murdered anyone in weeks.Today, i was in Cherno after being murdered again, finally got some foods and supplies, a makarov with some mags and some tools. I'm hearing some douchebag shooting his sniper somewhere downtown aiming for newbs, so i climb up all the ladder in that building near the apartments in the north, when i get up there i have a look around, and suddenly stand face to face with some guy who has an rifle with ACOG or so. I nerveously roll around untill he says , we cool. I ask where he came from and he tells me he just spawned there, he then tells me he saw someone downstairs. He walks down abit and i look around for the other guy, i see the guy running away from the building and tell him that, right when typing that he is running west he shoots me in the head twice.Sadly i cant use the chat to tell him what an asshole he is so i just take a deep breath and start again.30 minutes in i have a sniper and at Polana i see a guy crawling through town, yet i cant get myself to shoot him. mannyfresh 1 Posted July 14, 2012 its called sociopath syndrome it happens in this game.True story. I roll with a group of 3-5 people regularly. We're not out to make friends. We're out to ruin people's day. I'm usually a PVE carebear in the MMO's I play. DayZ is an entirely different beast.
KWilt 157 Posted July 14, 2012 its called sociopath syndrome it happens in this game.I don't exactly understand how it would be sociopathy. I mean, that's kinda like saying you're a sociopath because you feel no empathy or sympathy in regards to characters in a book, even after you understand that the events that a character goes through are entirely fictional or hyperbolic.Personally, I stopped really caring about the shots I take. I mean, it's not like I kill defenseless women and children (including survivors without weapons). People come into this game, expecting to die. And as they haven't shown any reason for me to trust them, then I'm not going to potentially put myself in their coffin. I worked for everything I have, and I'm not going to let a potential con take that from me.
Kashus 22 Posted July 14, 2012 I see everyone's point and I still do shoot frequently. I will always shoot someone on a vehicle or in a group. I also usually shoot first if they are carrying high powered weapons. It's just that sometimes I want to apologize for killing a guy when he was trying to be friendly. It's crazy that a game is making us have this discussion though. Unreal...
