magmatrix 38 Posted July 13, 2012 If we are supposed to REALLY alpa test this game, then the console should be available at all times.Everybody should be allowed to spawn/despawn items and zombies, alter blood/food/water values, add/remove pain/shock/broken bones, teleport to any place, and so on.ATM, if i would like to test e.g. the tents, and make a complete bug report on them and suggestions for improvements, then i'll have to walk around for hours and hours trying to avoid bandits and zombies, looking for food and bandage and morphine and so on, until i (barely alive) finally find a tent... Only then can i go into the forest and try to place the tent. And when trying to place the tent (it takes hours just to find a suitable spot) then i'll probably be killed by another player....This is a complete waste of time! If you REALLY want people to test the game, then give everyone full admin rights. That way i can spawn, teleport to a suitable place, spawn a tent, ... place it ... spawn another and so on, and use my time to actually test absolutely everything about how tents work and then give suggestions about them.Right now i don't even know if tents can overlap (which would be a bug) because finding TWO tents and being able to take them to a place for testing is just impossible. I would have to search for days, and then i would get "session lost" and have to start over...So, do you want the players to (1) TEST the game or (2) PLAY the game?If (1) - give us console with full access to everything. If (2) - then fix the bugs so it becomes playable.Anything else is a waste of time and makes no sense whatsoever. clever 12 Posted July 13, 2012 I think what Rocket's aiming for is an alpha where he can control what's going on and see how player's would play the game, and change parts of the game/fix bugs accordingly.
enforcer1975 1111 Posted July 14, 2012 (edited) You cant be serious giving 10000 players admin rights or even rights to spawn things. You know how much work it is to add player IDs to the permission list of the mission with a player base changing every minute? Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted July 14, 2012 Err, we are all revealing bugs just by playing it every day. Also, the testing isn't just about bug tracking. More importantly (in the long term) it's about getting the balance of the game mechanic right. This would be impossible if we could do what your suggesting. So to put it bluntly, Option one is crap. Option 2 is in progress.

oifriendlyfire 46 Posted July 14, 2012 Tip: You can place tents by walking with your gear menu open, and spamming pitch tent.Seen that on youtube.Works for me every time.Good luck!
Figs 2 Posted July 14, 2012 No. Then you don't feel the game, you just have a sandbox version with NO difficulty and NO real feel to the 'finished' product
pvt_ammo@hotmail.com 164 Posted July 14, 2012 Definitely Definitely Definitely Definitely NOT!

L0G!N (DayZ) 149 Posted July 14, 2012 if you yourself truely want to do this then best would be to get a private server going, then you would have server rights, then you can also get some hacks (no clue where to get them, but the internet likely knows) and you can spawn w/e you want. By having a private server you would also not be connected to the hyve, and all the 'testing' (aka spawning stuff) will not effect your status in regards to cheating.I am fairly sure you would be able to do this, if you truely want to, but i have no clue asto how :/

Pretty sure you can setup a private server / single player version and theres spawn menus and shit to test out whatever you want. I've seen videos of it but never tested it myself.
