Machiavelli (DayZ) 0 Posted May 18, 2012 Hello, maybe it's just, i really love to play this game, day and night, but then there are these really pretty busy dayz, and playing then at night makes me crazy. So i actually don't know if its possible, but maybe you'll add the current time on the server at the server list, so you can see it before you connect. mooncabbage 2 Posted May 18, 2012 Even just knowing the timezone the server is set for would be beneficial. Most people can work things out relative to their own timezone, so just knowing that X server is GMT+3 and Y server is GMT+10 would be helpful.
Machiavelli (DayZ) 0 Posted May 18, 2012 exactly, would be a good solution, already seen some us servers doing it in the tag
nicowaves 24 Posted May 18, 2012 Yes, a general information about the timezone would be cool.
Land Squid 22 Posted May 18, 2012 Also is there any explanation regarding the time discrepencies on some servers? Was on a Dallas server last night, it was about 0100 in the GMT-6 (CST) but the server was broad daylight at the time. What gives?
Finch (DayZ) 0 Posted May 18, 2012 I think I know which Dallas server you were on. I always play there as I can only play at night, so getting some sun in game is a nice change. I think they have their time offset by about 8 hours from normal Dallas time.Ideally id like EVERY server in the world to run the exact same time but with something like 4hr daytime and 4hr nighttime. Playing through a sunrise or sunset is epic, but right now its hard to catch. Plus it would be nice to always know what your getting yourself into when you log in. IE: what time is best for raiding a town or exploring and when to hop in to meet your friends before it gets light and dangerous to be out in the open. Land Squid 22 Posted May 18, 2012 From what I understand the devs are pretty keen on keeping a "realistic" day/night cycle, but here's a thought for all those folks who can really only play at one particular time of the day: Why not have the game running a 23 or 25 hour day? The result of it is that through-out the month the day/night cycle on the server will slowly progress or regress, fully reversing day/night approximately every 2 weeks. That way players who can only ever play at X time of day will slowly see a change in the playing conditions on their preferred server as the days pass (lets face it, playing on a server on the other side of the world just to get some daylight doesn't really work ala latency).
