billyangstadt 272 Posted May 18, 2012 Is the ammunition between these two guns interchange able by chance?Aren't they both ACP .45 caliber?
Lisento 0 Posted May 18, 2012 The way Arma II works doesn't allow you to interchange the ammo. Even though the actual bullets might be interchangeable, it's the package the bullets are in that Arma II works with.
billyangstadt 272 Posted May 18, 2012 Ok, I thought so. I couldn't get it to work. Thanks. It would be awesome if somehow this could be tweaked. I find more Revolver ammo than I can carry, but I use a 1911. It's always bothered me that they're the same bullet, but the game assigns specfic boxes of the bullet as clips or Revolver ammo boxes. It's difficult(atleast for me), to find 1911 ammo. This would be an awesome fix, if possible.
Zaltro 3 Posted May 18, 2012 If you find more revolver ammo than you can carry and have difficulty finding m1911 ammo I think the solution is obvious.
Tiger205 48 Posted May 18, 2012 This could be fixed by editing both configs for both guns - that's how 20rnd and 30rnd STANAGs work for M16s/M4s in ArmA. Problem is it would look weird when you're trying to put in a 7 round clip into that revolver.
BlackAlpha 12 Posted May 18, 2012 They could make the colt pistol fire the revolver mags, though. This would, however, result in balancing issues, because the colt pistol ammo would be very abundant, while that pistol is the most powerful pistol in this game. The .45 ammo spawn chance would have to be reduced to compensate for the balancing issue.
boxman80 964 Posted May 18, 2012 I dont actually think the Revolver ammo and the 1911 ammo are interchangeable in real life and although the same calibre their casings are quite different to accommodate their loading mechanisms. I'm no expert but I have seen both types of round and know there is a distinct difference between barrel loaded rounds and magazine loaded rounds. So it makes sense that the .45 colt rounds wouldnt fit the .45 revolver and vice versa.

Unless the ingame revolver ammo is .45 Colt, I can't see how this could be the case (1911 ammo is .45 ACP). There are many revolvers that fire .45 ACP and .45 ACP is the same whether it's used in a revolver or an autoloader.
naizarak 41 Posted May 18, 2012 no they don't share ammo. i think the revolver is generally better though. slightly higher damage with substantially better accuracy. ammo is more plentiful, too.
deathshead 2 Posted May 18, 2012 The pdw can in fact be used with multiple mags of the 9mm kind. It doesn't pack much punch but i kept it for that reason.
That Lamer 0 Posted May 18, 2012 Besides the PDW, which fyi, can also use MP5 mags, a number of rifles also have interchangeable magazines. There's basically no reason the revolver and 1911 shouldn't share ammo, rocket just needs to make the decision and modifications to allow it.
dizzymagoo 19 Posted May 18, 2012 I don't think the rounds are interchangeable in real life. The caliber is the same size but the actual casing size is different. The revolver uses .45 long colt ammunition.Dizzymagoo

Even though the actual bullets might be interchangeable' date=' it's the package the bullets are in that Arma II works with.[/quote']That is not entirely true. A M249 can be loaded with 20rnd/30rnd STANAG, a RPK can be loaded with an AK-74 magazine, PDW can be loaded with a M9 magazine or a MP5 magazine. I might have missed one, but that is about the extent of interchangeable magazines in A2

BlackAlpha 12 Posted May 18, 2012 Keep in mind that the revolver cannot use M1911 ammo due to the mag size. A colt mag is 7 bullets. A revolver should not carry more than 6 for realism reasons. So a revolver cannot use the colt mag.It can work the other way around. The colt pistol can use a revolver mag.
williamkenny-101@hotmail.co.uk 0 Posted May 18, 2012 Slightly off topic but perhaps useful; the G17 can also use M9 mags.

sunnz 24 Posted May 18, 2012 dam, i found a PDW and though it wont work with the ammo i had( 4 g17, 3 m9 mags) :(Is the PDW worth it?
SDE Bellisarius 1 Posted May 18, 2012 dam' date=' i found a PDW and though it wont work with the ammo i had( 4 g17, 3 m9 mags) :(Is the PDW worth it?[/quote']well its got semi and full auto modes. and ammo will be plentyfull.the colt 1911 is the most powerfull handgun in the game , and the M9 SD the most prized.so i would rank the secondary's as1) M9 SD2) Colt Gov. Model 3) PDW
nakor 2 Posted May 18, 2012 RL ammunition is interchangeable between many guns, some with different calibers - You can fire.38 special out of a .357 for example. Magazines however are a different story. I would love to see an ammunition management system put in. IE you can collect 100 5.56mm rounds for your m16a2 but if you've only got one clip, you're SOL when you piss off 50 zeds :-P This would make weapons with internal magazines (pump shotguns, revolvers, the winchester 1866) somewhat more valuable for ease of use. Although realistically the reload times for those weapons isn't long enough right now.
Persason 15 Posted June 29, 2012 no they don't share ammo. i think the revolver is generally better though. slightly higher damage with substantially better accuracy. ammo is more plentiful' date=' too.[/quote']Sorry but part of this is incorrect! The M1911 is slightly more powerful and marginally quieter than the Revolver, but less accurate. Its difficult to say which gun is the best. Personally I find the m1911 slightly better because of the higher damage and lower noise levels. The accuracy is very identical between the revolver and m1911. Accuracy wise they are the same at 50m range however the m1911 is slightly, just slightly less accurate than the revolver between 50 and 100m. The M1911 also has one more bullet in its mag.We all know how important silent guns are... you learn that after firing an Engfield for the first time in a city... lets just say I died :P
