Mattman91c 1 Posted July 13, 2012 Let me lay down the senerio for you. You just spawn into a new life with nothing on you. You walk around for ten mins to find a few basic supplies when all of a sudden you are fired apon by someone with high tier gear who has no reason to kill you except for just the fun of it. That player goes off living his life while we get killed over and over again with no punishment toward the person who is killing. Before the bandit skin was taken out you could clearly tell who was just going around killing people. I would like to propose this. Implement some form of bounty system into the game. If someone is doing ill deeds make it publicly known that they are. Maybe some type of in game notice board showing the people who are doing said acts and would encourage others to hunt them down. The notice board could show something like this. " -player- was last spotted at -location- carrying a -weapon- "The notice board could update everytime they would kill someone. This theory of mine I believe would help the game become more co-operative like it was when it first started while also showing Bandits they shouldn't go around mindlessly killing people. Having the players weapon appearing on the board would even further encourage pursuit for that could be the reward for hunting them down. Because if you saw that so-and-so was carrying a AS50 around would you not try to take it from him? Its the same concept. I know its a rough idea I would just like to know what you devs and the community think about my idea.

Cyric (DayZ) 254 Posted July 13, 2012 I like this idea, not because I think bandits need punishing, but because it's pro-active opposed to the usual "whine whine whine killing is bad, God needs to punish bandits" type of suggestion. Only problem is, this idea would never work because of server hopping.
Mattman91c 1 Posted July 13, 2012 I know its not a perfect concept but I am just saying something along these lines or if the servers become more locked down, it would potently work.
Lady Kyrah 1110 Posted July 13, 2012 (edited) I suggest you guys watch this video of rocket during his presentation at Rezzed where he answer questions about DayZ.This kind of suggestion will never be considered, it goes against everything he has in mind for DayZ.Rocket doesn't want to punish players for denying your enjoyment of the mod, he doesn't care, a big part of his design vision is to let players shape what the dayZ experience is. The Bandit is attracting attention of people therefore bring them to him. Players with good loot would try to hunt him and in the process could be gunned down themselves, stripped and looted. It potentially benefits both parties. If a group of players decided to hunt down the bandit in this sense would be an extra benefit because from my experience, it is rarely ever a lone person killing everyone. This system would add conflict as well as co-operation. Exactly what he wanted for his game.

Mattman91c 1 Posted July 13, 2012 Add something called "vibe" This would give you an indication (in percent) of how trustworthy a player is and the vibe would become stronger and more accurate the closer the player gets to you. Vibe would be calculated by the last time a player killed another player and how much players they have killed! Something along those lines :P This would allow the bandits to continue killing players but make it harder from closer distances and with different weapons.I like this idea mate ^
KField86 237 Posted July 13, 2012 I would actually love knowing there was a bounty on my head. More stress. It would be a "Come and get it" type of vibe. I'd be down for it, like say if there was a bounty board that you could literally walk up to in Cherno, Elektro and Berezino that listed say the 5 players on the server(alive) with the highest murder count. It wouldn't give out too much information. Just a name, and murder count. Possibly type of weapon, so you know what to look for but even that can be too much information. The option to do this is already available within arma. It could use a system like the fast travel system at the ARMEX air-strip in arma. Just approach the sign, and instead of it being fast travel, it lists a number of players and their murder counts. This would update with each server reset so it's manageable. And if the player has died, they are removed at the restart and replaced.
