Can't believe I'm asking this

I've had this game for 3 weeks now and have had many hours of gameplay. These include multiple day survives with hundreds of zombie kills and a few dozen murders/bandit kills. I would consider myself an experienced player, but the is one question I still have.

What happens when you select drop down ladder? Do you slide gracefully to the ground? Do you plummet to your death? Does nothing happen? I've never wanted to risk it and try it, so I'd appreciate it if someone could shed some light on the matter. Thanks.

When you are climbing up/down a ladder, it is given as an option if you scroll.

What happens when you select drop down ladder?

It does what it says. You drop the ladder and fall down. If its too high - you get killed. If it's not too high - you get your legs broken. I usually use it when I have 2 steps left to avoid the finishing animation of leaving the ladder.

i do it when i'm 2-3ft from ground it works fine so far

I hear this is used as a glitch near one of the apartment buildings and allows you to enter one of the fake apartments where you can basically shoot people through the walls while they can't see you.

I tried it once before when going down a deer stand ladder and nothing happened, I have not tried again since.
