Admins abusing on US 5 Chicago

A friend and I we're playing on the server, when we found a large set of tents and a bicycle. We took a bunch of stuff, found an atv, and left. 10 minutes later we get session lost. we log back on and are rolled back to before it happened and all their stuff is in the tents, and people are waiting there and kill me. on their forum they are talking about something i dont quite understand but doesnt sound legit. I found this quote from their servers admin

"So, Do any of you guys know how to load charnarus up in the mission editor, and start a multiplayer server? I'll show you how. It sounds to me like you guys need to find a new camping spot... And what better way then to open up charnar on the editor and spawn a blackhawk? If you guys wanna do that tonight, lemme know."

I don't know about the server restart but the quote sounds like they are just opening the map on a private server (Not Dayz) to just search for a good spot to put their new camp from a helicopter (Easier to spot). :/

They kicked a majority of the server, and then 16 people all joined at once, a lot of them have the same names as the thread I posted from their site. This is retarded. I don't think they understand how the game works

They just did it again after I blew up some of their tents. Around 5:10am cst. I would find another server but I have vehicles. Can something be done? They did a couple hours after my last post too, after I stole an as50 out of their tents.

It's getting ridiculous.....I work my ass off sneaking to their base for some revenge for the multiple resets they keep doing, and it just gets exponentially worse.

Hey there Marvo,

I play on US 5, the unrepentant server and I'm part of the community where you took that out of context quote from. I know all the players from the Unrepentant and none of them have admin (we might be getting it soon though). For the record, the camp you found isn't ours so we have nothing to do with your bad experiences.. You do know the server gets restarted 4 times a day right? It is entirely possibly you were unlucky, and if what you are talking about happened yesterday, or the day before there were problems with the server, and in fact the entire game for about 2 days. Sykotix, the admin and server owner (I think he is Dayz dev too) had to update the server. Quite a few of our clan members lost stuff too. I know I got teleported 1000m from my ATV.

In short, whatever is happening to you and your friends has nothing to do with us. We don't hack, we don't cheat, we don't use exploits like ghosting and logging in and out.

I know that quote doesnt condemn you to hacking or anything, it just lined up with what was happening after we found that spot. I know restarts happen, but it was 3 within the 6 hour timeframe restarts usually happen.

I don't mean any ill will towards you guys, I just hate having this sort of thing happen. If that camp isnt yours, you guys should find out who it belongs to because they are duping the tents and items a lot.

I was just informed the the server was rolled back and that lots of stuff was lost from our tents too, so I think that, combined with the general problems many servers had with the update explains your issues.

Is this camp you are talking about the one not too far from Balota airfield? We've raided one down there quite a few times and we are amazed at how quickly they seem to be able to resupply.

I own US 5, and currently I'm the only person who has administrative access to that server.

US 5 is scheduled to restart every 6 hours, so you most likely got caught by that. Earlier this week, (Or maybe it was late last week?) I had to restart the server a few times during the mid afternoon hours EST, to test out a new version of the hive.

As for *my* comment on the unrepentantgaming.com forums, that went something like this:

For you guys who don't know this little tidbit of information; Arma2 has a built in mission editor, that lets you load any map included in Arma 2, and make missions with them. Chernarus is one of those maps. You can use the mission editor to create your own little mini Arma 2(Not DayZ) server that other players can join. With Chernarus loaded, If you place a heli on this map you can use that to scout the map for camping places. This is totally legit, as it doesn't effect DayZ at all.

If you guys haven't done this yet, I highly recomend it. The map looks totally different from the air, and you can really learn the lay of the land well.

I'm currently in the middle of moving to a new State, so I really haven't had time to review my server logs. If you guys report back here with any times that you saw hacking attempts, just let me know and I'll get those ID's banned. I'm still moving so it may take a bit for that to happen. I may actually teach some of the Uey's (unrepentantgaming.com) to do that as well, so this server is upkept a bit better than it has lately.

Tent duping is definitely happening on the server, and the clan has witnessed and found said tents, only to loot them for their own benefit instead of banning and taking them out.

Yeah, this server is bad. Myself and 5 buddies joined this server and within 10 minutes we were all killed. How you ask?

I was killed by a flying bus dropping bombs.

3 others were killed by a fully automatic M107 with a teleporting user.

The other just dropped dead.

There was more than 1 hacker, I'd vote something like 3.

Couldn't see their names though because the server doesn't have tags :c

Why haven't you banned the obvious tent dupers on your server?

Duping is almost unavoidable to be honest even if your not trying to, there's so many ways it can happen. Lag can cause it to occur quite easily, any time you destruct a tent and put it up somewhere else you've just duped it, the server going down while working with a tent vehicle can cause it to occur very easily, attempting to move things between servers causes it to happen.... Recently I was switching to a new server, took our AS50, and somehow managed to have 3 of them by the time it was all said and done, it just kept coming back... As far as I can tell you can't even destroy tents, so sure you can try and manually go through your stuff and prune out things you think got duped, but its all such a nightmare.

Until the game can actually be played without all of these problems, I'd be very careful about accusing and banning someone for duping.
