TeaLeaf 5 Posted July 12, 2012 Why?Because the limited amount of buildings worth visiting makes us all act in a very "gamey" way where we just make a beeline for the one or two places we know will have some loot in. It gets a little tiresome after a while. How?Just add some spawn points around the non-enterable buildings. Put them in places like doorways or just in places where they won't clip into nearby buildings like at the bottom of the outdoors stair cases some houses have or natural alcoves. Lower the spawn rate of loot in all of the common spawn points (residential, industrial) so that the average loot in a particular area stays about the same. L0G!N (DayZ) 149 Posted July 12, 2012 To add to this, i seen various piles of stuff laying around, that are obvious 'objects' in the engine, i would suggest using these too. Examples:- piles of rubble, of various sizes and shapes and forms- dust bins- containers- boxes
Katana67 2907 Posted July 12, 2012 Looking forward to see what is done with this when Day Z becomes standalone and/or switches to a different engine. I'm sure most buildings would have to be enterable. For the purposes of now, I think there are two solutions to this. One is that, like you said, un-enterables need to be made more significant by adding loot spots around them. Perhaps use boxes? Akin to the medbox, so that the loot wouldn't get lost in the grass. Towns like Guglovo and Petrovka with one, or no enterable buildings is kind of a waste. The second, rather than having un-enterables spawn loot, just add a few structures to each town which needs it. One house maybe? Or add a few military camps outside a few more towns? Perhaps a three tent maximum size? Something to keep irrelevant towns in the loop and encourage people to move out of the ultra-campable military installations. Hell, it doesn't have to have high-end military stuff, just something. dinsdale1978@gmail.com 19 Posted July 12, 2012 Rocket has already stated that the final release should see upwards of 90% of the buildings as able to be entered and have more loot. Though I agree bins and rubble piles should have something. just remember that while you are rummaging in the trash a sniper just saw you...
