ok so im trying to somehow buy a desktop for idealy $200 that is capable of running DayZ with an alright FPS of about 30 or above at most times.

just wondering if this is possible for ideal price but if i have to i will go to $250-$300 MAXIMUM.

please post a link to a suitable desktop.

am willing to DIY but would rather not to.

That is really, really, not going to happen. Ever.

$200 US is about £130 here in the UK - I had to spend about £800 to get a PC decent enough to play Skyrim on full settngs, and even that has problems with DayZ at times.

Maybe if you had access to $200 a month, you could buy parts and assemble it, you might be able to play it sometime near Christmas......

$200

Let me stop you right there. You are NOT going to get a decent computer for that. That's barely more money then an iPhone LOL

Hello there

This is a really subjective issue.

I cannot tell anyone what is a "good" framerate or decent "fps"

Also fps in the RV engine can change drastically from one area to another or dependent on what AI processing is happening (although DAYZ is far lighter than std Arma2 missions on the whole)

The RV engine (Arma2's/Dayz's) is notorious in bringing high end systems to their knees when set to "high" levels, so although folk may be able to play BF3/Skyrim/etc on "high" this is not equateable to the RV engine.

I have an average system (i7quad 2.8 12gb ram 460gtx) and I have to really balance my settings to hit 20-25 fps in A2.

Although it's a year or two old i still think $300 wont get a system of an equal spec (unless second hand?).

My advice would be to buy good quality components bit by bit and build up your machine over time or stuff that cash in the bank and wait until you have enough to buy a new system.

I'm sorry for the bad news. I'm currently unemployed so I feel your lack of cash pain.

rgds

LoK

PS be aware the engine is *very* processor hungry compared to other games.
