cruc1al 0 Posted July 12, 2012 (edited) Or lack there of.Since this new patch my armory doesn't work. I asked a friend who always hosts our Armory games to try and no dice. WTF!! Someone needs to fix something, this patch is turning out to be nothing but fail. Edited July 12, 2012 by Cruc1al
roguetrooper 201 Posted July 12, 2012 Since 1.7.2. NOTHING else except DayZ works anymore when you start the game in DayZ mode.Prior to that you were able to play DayZ, SP, MP, armory and editor preview.I suppose they did it so that no DayZ stuff can be used outside of DayZ anymore. What a bullshit!Wasted time in making own maps where you can use DayZ weapons. :-/
Azrail (DayZ) 211 Posted July 12, 2012 (edited) my guess its not the dayz update, but the arma2 update.don't think that dayz would interact with your arma2 installation in any way, for what?i would suggest head over to the arma2 support forums.also, starting the game without any addons is adviced, in case you didn't do that already.@RogueTrooper before you start making your own stuff with other people's property, it would be wise to ask first, and if only to confirm there are no upcomming conflicts. greenfist (DayZ) 11 Posted July 12, 2012 It's has nothing to do with arma updates. DayZ mod changes/removes all classes or such which it doesn't need. Makes the hacking more difficult they say. And breaks the vanilla game. Just disable the mod to use it.And yes, you could make your own scenarios with DayZ content but it's not cool to distribute them without giving full credit to DayZ.DayZ doesn't have any EULA by the way?
cruc1al 0 Posted July 13, 2012 Sure you can disable the mod and blah blah. But honestly, you shouldn't have to, a mod should never intefere with the original game it is developed from. Make it a standalone game or don't take away Arma 2 from others. I'm sure Bohemia had no intentions of having mods that inhibit the orginal game being played for their customers.FIX this please. greenfist (DayZ) 11 Posted July 13, 2012 This is actually quite interesting feature. While it probably serves as a cheat protection solution, it generally disables the main game. Which isn't a big deal in most games. But I'm sure that 98 percent of the current players don't know the dirrefence between Arma and Dayz. And because they have the mod enabled at all times, they will never stumble upon the great vanilla game.Is DayZ sweeping Arma under the rug as potential competition and paving it's way to standalone game? Am I paranoid?
[email protected] 8 Posted July 13, 2012 not paranoid at all, the goal is for it to be a stand alone game, but i fail to see how its going to compete with arma? dayz has made more money for arma2 than arma2 likely did. a very high % of the 400k+ people playing dayz bought combined operations just for dayz not to mention all the free advertising and MAJOR press coverage for both the company the games related and arma3 itself
greenfist (DayZ) 11 Posted July 13, 2012 I not saying it's about the money but about the player base of DayZ vs. vanilla.Dayz is trying its best to keep people from straying over to vanilla game. More alpha testers, more people likely to buy stand alone. It's just sad that this way most people will never try out the base game and ultimately contribute to keeping arma2 alive and making arma3 better. It's still early, let's just see how this plays out.
