Using a second character on one account?

Ok, so when I first started playing DayZ, it wanted me to use my computer's login name (which is lame)... so I made a new profile.

I recall having logged into the game under my first profile, and I've since only used the second profile I created.

My question is this... can I have two characters? I only have one copy of Arma 2: CO. I'm not asking about multi-boxing or anything... I'm asking about having two playable characters with separate gear from the same computer.

Any help is appreciated.

They share the same gear but its kinda weird because when I did it I felt like I lost some loot otherwise go ahead.

So basically having that second profile is just an easy way to switch between character names/appearances? But apart from that, they're only going to be one character?
