Im just thinking is the radio even used in DayZ?

imagine a way to use a radio you were able to send out messages across the entire map to a mate back at base and potentially trade n make friends, i see there is like 3-4 communication channels, would it be easy to implement another that added Radio Comms that anyone with a radio would hear-to even a personal chat channel in-game

Not yet. Been mentioned to be 'coming soon'. We'll just have to see what it brings, though.
