Jihad (DayZ) 1 Posted July 12, 2012 My understanding is that detection is based on a combination of distance from the zombie, your visibility value as seen in the debug window and how long you spend within the zombie's line of sight. So in theory, once the kinks in the system are worked out if you are crouched and sneaking around with a zombie looking your way it may not notice you immediately but if it keeps looking towards you it will realise that you aren't a zombie and come after you, the less visible you make yourself the longer this would take.
