Base in the forest.

In order to make a base you need a hatchet to cut wood, toolbox, nails, Hunting knife. Ypu have to loot the nails or craft it using 4 iron chunks for 12 wood chunks for wooden nails requires 2x more to build the buildings

My suggestion for this page is that our friends and club could make a base in the forest and live in the forest. The base will aquire and can be upgraded:

Comfort: Will make your tempature better

Tent: Lvl 1 of shelter needing 8 wood piles

Hut: Lvl 2 of shelter needing 6 wood plies, 1 box of nails or 2 box of wooden nails

Shack: Lvl 3 of shelter needing 20 wood piles,4box of nails tool box or 8 box of wooden nails

House: Lvl 4 of shelter needing 40 wood piles,6box of nails tool box or 12 box of wooden nails

Small Mansion: Lvl 5 of shelter needing 60 wood piles 8box of nails toolbox or 16 box of wooden nails

Toilets: If there is a washroom stat it will quickly relieve it.

Bucket: lvl 1 of toilets needing 2 wood piles 1 nails or 2 box of wooden nails

Everyday Poop Cabin: Max level needing 8 woodpiles and 3 nails or 3 box of wooden nails

Storage: Storage.

Chest: Lvl 1 of Storage 4 wood piles,4 boxes nails or 8 boxes of wooden nails, tool box, Hunting knife holds 10 inventory slots

Mega Chest: Lvl 2 of Storage, 8 wood piles, 8 boxes nails or 16 boxes of wooden nails, toolbox , hunting knife holds 20 inventory slots

Bank Hut: Max level of storage 20 wood piles, 16 boxes nails or 34 boxes of wooden nails, toolbox, hunting knife holds 40 inventory slots

Crafting:Need to gather basic stuff. Example to make a hunting knife you need a blade and a knife handle.

Crafting station Max lvl of crafting 2 wood piles, toolbox ,2 box of nails, hunting knife

Walls: 5 wood piles 3 box of nails or 6 boxes of wooden nails and a toolbox

Gate for the walls: 3 Woodpiles 2 box of nails or 4 boxes of wooden nails and a toolbox

Clinic Hut: MAX LEVEL 25 wood piles 15 box of nails or 30 boxes of wooden nails and a tool box. Will generate 3 hp per 4 seconds max is 10000 blood can not go past that and only can heal 1 person at a time.Heal your bleeding affects, Shock,Broken Bone

Notes:

You could craft weapons, Repair cars.

If you people want to add some ideas feel free.If your going to disagree with me please let me try to convince you to agree with me.

You can only make 1 of everything and tool box is permanent while you have to look for boxes of nails

Also bandits and other people can try breaking in your base and will try to steal your stuff you daily need to repair your base by having wood maybe 3 wood chunks for 10%

Edited all buildings will satisfy your Tempature,Health But you need to go get your own food and water to survive. Also the clinic will just heal your blood but wont provide bandages.

Crafting recipes and %

Weapons 25% - 90% Depending the weapons

Wooden Nails 15%

Tools or clothes 20 - 45%

Sounds like a bad ide. How about evry player goes on a random server and build some random house in cherno in the streets -.-

No you dont make it in the streets. You make it in the forests open area. The map has open areas and also when the player leaves the building will delete it self or the other thing you can do is give the property to another person maybe your friend so if you leave your friend could just enjoy playing by him self and if he leaves the base will disappear in a flash. You always have to start building a base when you leave a server and joining it back.

Outposts made out of barbed wire, sandbags, and tank traps suits just fine for this. just get a team working to get the supplies.

If you want to know where DayZ is heading, go watch some vids where Rocket talks about more building stuff all the time :)

I don't know, if think if such a feature could be implemented one day, it should be something simple.

Arma 2 itself has some building mechanics that i saw on the campaign, but we would need to wait for the developers to give their insight about this.

It would be kinda cool!

Mansions? Really?

While I am an advocate of base-building, the amount of time and resources it would realistically take to create a house -- let alone a mansion -- is astronomical when without constructional technology and constructed by hand. If you've ever been on a mission trip or a similar charity-oriented organization where you build a house for someone, you know that it takes ten or more mostly competent people to construct a house over a week's time, constantly working from dawn to dusk. Now take that scenario and apply it to an apocalyptic backdrop and you will see that there just realistically won't be the supplies or the manpower to construct houses, especially in DayZ.

Walls are a bit more feasible, but banks, clinics, etc. are all highly impractical and also go against the first step of DayZ's core concept: Scavenging. If you build a giant base where clinics spawn medical supplies it totally eliminates the need to go out and find supplies, which is one of the most important parts of DayZ.

No you are absolutely wrong. The only thing those do is give away your tents. Thank you to all those people smart enough to make there tent a beacon in the dark. I got an AS50, some cokes; needed some I was blinking!, ammo, a fal, and a bunch of tools! All from tents with these "outposts". Don't be silly they've never been useful they never will be useful until rocket comes up with a legitimate way to store your cache long-term.

I understand the whole "lose everything in a second" attitude; but then that eliminates the entire point of cooperation, end-game guns(such as the ones I took), any sort of long term play is pointless. No one stays at their tent all day to defend it, if they do, I pity how boring your life is.

What we need, is GUARD DOGS, Rocket has mentioned implementing dogs into the game; how about guard dogs that patrol your tent or outpost area as mentioned by OP. Not shitty guard dogs that die from a couple of shots but a couple of them a small pack, that presents an actual threat to any would be attacker, they should be smart enough to avoid any traps you set yourself too.

Arma engine can barely support building a sandbag wall. Although at least a te t should be enterae to protect you from rain.

Persistency sucs still for this mod as all you have to do to get away fkr bad weather is to hop on another server. So that is why noone cares for such stuff. If it is night, switch server.

If it rains - switch

If you see another player - switch

No needed loot inside a store/barracs - switch...

So building a shelter should be added, but first fix exploits

Interesting note: Rocket discussed the possibility of underground bases in which players/teams may build far down the future. (Fuzzy on details, read the latest interview from... what is it? Razzed? rezzed?)

something like that yes :) ... well depending on possibilities, he sounded very fague and a bit like, if we manage to do it some other way then perhaps that be better still (atleast between the lines/words) ...
