Hatchet doesnt work as a weapon?

Recommended Posts

Hi I am playing with the latest update.

I often find hatchets around, they work fine for cutting wood, but when I move it from my toolbelt to my primary weapon, I can "reload" the hatchet but nothing actually happens if I try and attack with it.

Is there any kind of solution to this? I'm sure ive seen talk and videos of people killing with it.

Thanks

The Hatchet is a great weapon. You have to reload it first. Yes, sad but true.

Hmm bit strange.

I've had it quite a few times but it's never worked...even if I do "reload" it :P

I can pick it up and everything, It just doesn't swing when I click

How do you cut wood? I just endlessly chop and get no where. Am I doing something wrong?

Right click on the hatchet in your primary weapon slot / toolbelt and select 'Chop Wood' or what it ist called.

Dont the laggy zombies also mean that even if you swing kill the zombie, it'll still get a hit off due to that 1-1.5 delay?

Yes, unless you are lucky.

Hatchet's are technically guns with a very short range. Some day 1 meter, some say 3. Distance doesn't matter though as much as AIM does: Since the hatchet is a re-modeled gun, your crosshair has to be ON the zed in order to hit them. The general swing of the hatchet will not "catch" them.

Watch the How To Cut Wood video on the GuideZ channel.

This is an old post, but I still have this problem.

Please note:

The hatchet DOES work when cutting wood. But DOES NOT when trying to attack zombies or people- even after reloading.

And, Crowbars also don't work. And neither does the Enfield- despite having ammo and reloaded.

After reloading, go to a quiet place with no zeds and a wall. Use your aim mode and back away from the wall while "shooting" the axe. This should give you an idea of the effective range. I used to confuse the puff of smoke the axe makes when it "fires" with the impact. If it doesn't "fire" when the weapon is properly reloaded (has ammo count of 999999 in top right corner) then there might be a lag or synch issue with the server.
