AllYoYens 34 Posted July 11, 2012 If I were to host a server, which host is better?Is Vilayer for European servers, because their pricing is in euros instead of dollars.I hear HFB is kinda fishy, but that might just be a rumour.There are apparently many more places to host, but I'm really not sure where to go, or what I need to know to host a server.Where should I go to investigate on which place is the best? shiromikan 217 Posted July 11, 2012 HFB doesn't refund. Neither does NFO though. That's what some of the people are mad about. If you wanted a US server, I'd say HFB is the way to go. Denuth 21 Posted July 11, 2012 ViLAYER is amazing! I would reccomend them to anyone! I am the Admin of us200 and you can come check it out yourself. Runs great, always am able to get help. When I first started being a Admin I had no idea how to change settings and stuff so Lee and Ian walked me through everything on thier teamspeak. They didn't have to, but they did. It is alpha after all :)I know price is a big thing for everybody - but the best hosts have true 24/7 support. jskibo 143 Posted July 11, 2012 They all have their good and bad points. I use both Vilayer and HFB. Kind of a test to see who we will go with after a couple months.Speed seems to be nearly equal. Cost goes to HFBService, well...both have been slower than advertised during this heavy period with holidays in it, yet to see who wins hereVilayer has Rcon capability on the panel, HFB does notHFB gives you access to more of your files, Vilayer locks a lot down.Downloading logs on HFB is quicker than Vilayer. Can't modify the log files on Vilayer (i.e. Console_logold.txt) so you either grab them or delete them.No TS / Mumble or Ventrilo server sales with HFB, Vilayer offers TS and Mumble (Still waiting for Ventrilo possibilities from them)Both provisioned within a day, HFB about 10 hours, Vilayer about 20.Had no down issues with HFB yet, one Panel wonky issue with Vilayer that was solved in 12 hours.About all I can add..... 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

My server, US 188, appear to be in Philadelphia (based on the IP).Anyway, I've had nothing but positive interactions with them. We pay around $48 a month for a 50 slot server. tofucake 6 Posted July 11, 2012 I admin for a HFB server (Atlanta 69). They have pretty great control, access to a lot of files, pretty cheap, and decent stability. They were quick to setup our server (within an 1hr of ordering the server at 3 am), very stable and good customer service.
