Beta Issues

Hi,

I've been having some issues using six launcher. I thought six launcher updates the beta for you but when I go to join a server it either says bad version or building parts are missing. I was able to get into two servers but in one I was invisible and the other I spawned into a dark debug field. :-/ I've tried joining both the up to date servers and the older ones. I launch the game through steam in the 6 launcher options btw.

Servers need to update to reflect the most recent version, 1.7.2. Try joining a server that is running 1.7.2.

What version are you running? Do you have the Arma 2 beta? Have you used Six Updater?

six launcher says its using 1.7.2 so they all should work, but none of the servers seem to work for me. Also, oddly enough after my session was lost in the server I was invisible in, I joined another server and I spawned in a debug field and I no longer had my ghillie suit but I was visible. Those are the only servers I was even able to join today. Do I need to manually update the beta? What the hell is the point in have 6 launcher then.

Hi,

I'm sorry to tell you but you have the wrong information. Regardless of whether or not you have 1.7.2, servers still need to have the required files to run 1.7.2. You need to ensure the server is running the most recent version before trying to connect.

I am running the game through steam using six launcher. I added the -dayz thing like the thread says and ran as admin, but then I can't use the steam overlay. This thread does not solve any of my issues. I made it into one other server but I still spawn in the debug field....

Debug field is a bug relating to the game itself. You should be fine to join other servers provided they are on your current version.

I advise you to run 15 minutes east/south-east, or hit respawn.

Do I have to join Canada 2 to do that? Becuz I can't it says bad version. I've tried manually updating the beta and everything. I'm not going to launch the game in the way they tell me to in the thread because then I don't get the steam overlay and it took me forever to get that to work with 6 launcher.

Try a different server... It doesn't matter what server it is, as long as you can connect.

I'm not quite sure what overlay you're referring to, but if this is causing the issue then it is up to you whether or not you want to play the game.

Steam overlay. You can use it to talk to your steam friends and browse the web in game.

Okay, please follow these steps:

1.Make a new non-steam shortcut, choose Browse then browse to your operation arrowhead directory, go into expansion then go into beta. Click on ArmA2OA.exe in that folder and choose Open. The box will close so then choose Add Selected Programs button in the steam add programs box.

2.Find the shortcut you just made in your Steam library, right click and choose properties.

3.Delete the target line.

4.Rename the steam shortcut whatever you want.

5.Now edit the following text in notepad or something similar to include your paths. (If you have both Arrowhead and both ArmA2 on Steam you won't need to edit the paths, assuming you have kept the default installation location for Steam and run a 64bit OS.)

Once you're done making sure that the pathways are correct you paste the code above into the target line in the Steam options of the shortcut, all of it, including the quotations.

Now delete the "Start In"-line and replace it with the code below. Edit this if you have a different installation location.

Run the game from your new non-steam game shortcut.

Also, make sure you've got the Beta set up properly:

Go to the Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead directory and right-click -> edit on .cmd file "_runA2CO_beta.cmd".

Search for ":run" near the end of the file. Add ";@dayz" without quotes to "-mod=%_ARMA2PATH%;EXPANSION;ca".

Well I already got steam to work with 6 launcher, but the main issue I'm having is that the vast majority of the servers say bad version when I try to join them. It doesn't make any sense because I have the updated beta and a couple of the servers that say they have the updated beta work for me, but the vast majority of them don't. All I need is to get six launcher to work. I didn't seem to have any issues until six launcher updated today.

Yeah, that's an issue with servers, nothing on your end. Typically, server versions may be outdated whilst some will be the current version (while both will still be running 1.7.2).

Find a server that is current and stick to it.
