Bear Traps what do you think?

I want some insight and feedback as to what the rest of the community thinks about bear traps being released in the next update?

Personally im against it because i can see it being the same as with the hedgehog traps and wire barbed wire fences you cant vault, also with the abuse of server hopping for loot its bound to piss some people off stick a trap in a good looting location and the moment you hear the snap of your leg you have one angry gamer.

Also i suppose it will be risky aswell going in to the citys cherno and electro and the other markets all over as entering new places while the floor being buggy sometimes is an unavoidable trap what do you think?

I think we need to wait for the bear traps to be implemented before we make any assumptions.

I just can't wait until I accidentally step in one. Even more though I'll be really dumbfounded where to put one should I find it or be able to disarm it. So many nice places!

As long as they don't get duped and put across every square inch of every key spot, like barbed wire is on some servers, it could be fun. Another danger to look out for, and another menace to inflict on other players. I for one look forward to putting them in popular sniper spots. :D

What else would a bear trap do? We are lucky Rocket didn't make the bear trap dismember our legs, then we would have to find crutches.

well its already been stated in this post infects the player and breaks the leg seems a lil brutal to me.

still sounds painful but what makes me laugh is server hopper especially in the fire houses are in for a shock when they spawn xD

One of two things can happen:

Either it becomes a spamm-fest for griefers (barbwire, tanktraps and sandbags)

Or Rocket makes them rare enough that once you find one, you don't want to place it randomly, and it becomes a decent part of the DayZ experience.

But I have a feeling you better stack up on morphine and bandages, to put it that way.

The entire game is intended to be "a lil brutal."

what i can see being a pain in the ass is loot+open spot+bear trap+sniper = up shit creek. xD

It would be intersting if Rocket could develop a way for players to disarm/search for traps, perhaps by swinging and axe/crowbar in front of them to simulate "tapping" the ground ahead...

Also, will they be visible? As has already been mentioned, unless there's a way to prevent duping, this could easily be the end for many, many players.. Also, will there be a proportionate increase in morphine to counter the mass increase of broken legs. Will there be automatic healing of broken legs over time?

I just hope that they don't respawn on server restarts like barbed wire, tents, and all that other stuff does. That's the only reason barbed wire got out of control on some servers

Always make sure you have bandages and morphine.. Problem solved.

I agree that if there are too many, it will be a problem, but it could also make things pretty interesting if done well.

good point but i doubt there will be healing over time which is a shame im sure we have all be there before crawling around in the middle of nowhere with a broken leg and no morphine. up shit creek without a paddle.

Then what is point in the word assumption even existing...

Also the idea for traps is beautiful IMO (if they work right...)

LOL having bear traps all around my tent hell ya.

P.S I hope they work like in the witcher 2 where you find them and can disarm them and add them to your inventory if your vigilant enough.

Maybe but if they are REALISTIC...then it should be fine since each time they are used they need to be reset...so ya i think it will be fine, plus it depends how obvious they are IMO i don't think they will be very hard to NOT notice. Ill use them as traps but mainly as a visual trap or an obvious blockade or easy loot trap so they will go and attempt to disable it...and then boom goes the dynamite.

What...you know it will be fun to do
