Day Z is insulting to LGBT people

Recommended Posts

The gender selection occurs every time your character dies.

Currently you cannot change you're characters gender after that character has been created (until they die and you get a new character). My intention was to not allow your player to change their gender after an initial selection. Due to a bug I had to reverse this to the current situation. This later situation is how it says things go in the text' date=' but the reality is you can select each time.

The assignment of a characters gender was relating to their, well, [u']physical in-game gender, rather than their sexual identity. If you want your character to be gay or lesbian, or bisexual, then there is nothing to stop you being gay, lesbian, or bisexual in game. Although, I'm not really sure what impact that would have on your gameplay. I suspect that coming on to any other character in game is probably going to have the usual result of you getting shot and them stealing your backpack, gay or not.

I accept that enabling "transgender/sexual" gameplay is not possible in the current version. This is a technical implementation. Really, sexuality isn't something I've got any intention to specifically limit or develop in the game, other than to ensure as free and open gameplay is supported as possible.

Please remember, it's a mod - not a game (yet). So there is technical limitations over what can be achieved.

In my experience, most reasonable people do not really care what a persons sexual orientation is - in and out of the game. They just don't want things manufactured to have things one way or the other.

Mr. OP

You sir.....Have been told.

I tried to be serious and say that the one-time chance to choose gender is because of technical limitations.

But then i gave a fuck and just laughed. x-D

ROLF what one has to see... Seriously they even introduced female character, there is nothing to complain about... this is not a real life simulator (you can try Sims), this is a zombie apocallypse simulator, even if we all were the same-looking-gender character it would not matter.

BTW +1 to add aesthetic surgery in all hospitals, I'd like to see female characters OP

Good Idea, have chosen one of the older faces and would like to search hospitals for some botox injectors to become some sort of Sylvester Stallone character.

I don't see the problem with choosing your gender only once. If someone wanted to change their sexe in real life because they feel unhappy in their body, they would probably pick the sexe they want to be ingame anyway right? No-one forces you to pick your reallife sexe ingame.

I also doubt there are people that change their mind about the sexe they want to have every few years, unlike with Mr. Garrison (South Park) for most real people, it's a one time choice.

Furthermore, if you want to complain about not being able to be a tranny in the game (male character with boobs or someting) I can complain because I can't be a unicorn in the game.

Stop with the bs and start killing some zombies already !

Working as a assistant researcher with gender research, I agree that gender issues are often left out of popular culture. I also agree, just as the majority of current research, that sexual identity is a complicated non-binary issue rather than the classic "man/woman".

With that said, it is important to note that the original post IS RIDICULOUS. You are effectively making a joke of an important matter by suggesting DayZ is part of the problem. Get real. It is a game about zombies, not about third world hunger, poverty or gender issues. You could as easily replace your post with "There are no children in DayZ, do you know how that makes parents feel?" because that makes just as little sense.

I salute your ambition to fight for a new view on gender and sexual identity, but know where to fight your battles, you are coming off as a lunatic when you bring it up here.

I think binding the gender to your key is unnecessary and should be changed. But since it's not working anyway...

Gender is selectable at spawn as either male or female. Sexual orientation is not and is outside the scope of this mod.

Similarly, changing gender while in-game is also outside the scope of this mod.

I am not interested in carrying on a discussion about sexual orientation (or religion, or politics) in a game that their inclusion is irrelevant.
