All the rage about server hoppers etc ( Possible fix? )

I know there has been many of these thread's poping up lately, about people server hopping to get instant geared in a matter of minutes, among other things. However, many of the suggestions get shot down instantly and i thought of this idea, Might not be the best, but might not be the worst, i remain optimistic atleast.

What about if you did the server's like you would on an MMO Game, The different "Server" is hosted on it's own accord and not connected to a Hive, Say you allow 200-300 People onto one server, that one server is all alone in the place where the server's at the datacenter are held, That server would track the players, items/spawn location, basically everything you have now, But it would not be transfered across to a new server you would join. We will call this "Zombie server 1"

Now, you are getting tired of "Zombie server 1" so you decide you want to go onto the server aptly named "GTFO" here again the server is sperate just as above and has it's own little corner in the datacenter, This server again would allow 200-300 People, And save all the items just like it does now. But should you wish to move onto the server named "Trust me plox" You would loose all the stuff from server "GTFO"

This would reduce server hopping, as if you moved server you would just end up on a beach with a flash-light and a bandage, but if you worked on your character on server "Zombie server 1" Then you would want to go back and try to get better gear or see how long you can last. Also it would deter people from switching server's alot, as you logout go to a new server and are like "LOL WUT WHY R I NO SPAWNZ IN TEH AIRFIELD I R NEEDZ LEWTZ GEARZ" Thus pretty much put a stop on the server hoppers as soon as they realised that it does not work

This also add's another element, more people and more warfare for items, bigger teams, bigger plans, imagine 30 or so people having a war in the middle of a city and everyone around is just like DAFUQ? but again Item respawn timer's would need to be tweaked, and again 300player's on one server it would have to handle alot of things in the game, maybe ever-day each server get's restarted once a day to remove all the shitty barb wire and other things, but it keep's tents and other stuff, as i said, this idea probably need's work and may not be viable but it's 3:20AM and i thought of this idea. Also, there would need to be tweak's in the zombie numbers or the zombie ratio to player ratio as you would end up with like 30000 Zombies running around, it would be manic.

What do you guy's think? Terrible idea and i should GTFO, or decent idea but need's some work, or are you wanting to fuck dead zombie's because you are sick of masturbating?

P.S, The Developer's could allow player's to set up there own server's like this and again it would be the same, you would send the server cost to the DayZ team every month or annually, and they would tweak the settings on your server as you wished, or you would have access to the settings etc, Earning the developers a little money, and quitting all the forum rage about Server hoppers.

Ill get a fix for the logout retards another day, should i think of one.

the idea is generelly good! but 200-300 people on this little map? i think this to much.

until you get banned by a 12 year old admin because you raided his camp. This would only work if all the servers were either run my competent people, or the devs themselves.

edit: Also, what about people that have a hard time playing during the night? It would be restricting to not allow them to play on a day server during that period.

Yeh, the player numbers may need tweaking, just a ball-park figure, something bigger than now obviously other-wise it would cost too much to maintain 10000 different server's at 64slot's this way.

There could be different server set-ups, one server could rotate as they do now, one could always be dark, one could always be light the possibly's are endless with the set-ups, mainly it would be cost and implementation i would assume.

The best solution so far is the long time out after disconnecting to avoid disconnecting to avoid death.

The better solution to hopping servers might be to implement another time. When you log into a server your server timer starts at 10 mins. It counts down to 0. At 0 there is no wait to join another server. But, if it's at 9 mins when you disconnect, you have to wait 9 mins before you can load up on another server. The timer would ensure that players at least stay a minimum amount of time per server unless they don't worry about the wait.

This also impacts the regular "law abiding" players the least and it won't run into the problems others have pointed out with the OP's solution.

I always liked this idea, and anyone over the age of 9 should be able to wait 10 minutes to play if say a server went down. Time is not that scarce, yet. There are tons of things you could do during those ten minutes.

Watch TV.

Go to the bathroom/empty your bucket. Camping in that tree in the ghillie suit can last a while.

Go outside and feel the sunlight, you pale bastard.

Take a pet outside, before it craps on your rug.

Call your grandmother, you know you need to you lazy bastard!

Watch online porn. Yup.

Take a nap.

Stop playing the game for more than 10 minutes, and go have a beer with friends.

Read DayZ forum.

Get your cocaine back into nice line, your arm tied off, or whatever you do to prepare to DayZ for another 14.3 hours.
