Can server owners trace vehicles?

Recommended Posts

Ok so far I've been playing Dayz for a few months and my latest survival run is a personal best of 8 days.

Ive been playing the same server for over a month now and starting to become strangely curious as to how my packed out vehicles are being found so easily in such short time even though they are placed in near impossible to find places.

Now dont jump down my neck here and try hitting me with the old "hide them better" bullshit.

Its only 1 vehicle at a time and my group dont hoard or use tents, we have 1 and 1 only at a time but we do pack it to shit. We've each took turns and hidden several vehicles now on this server (no names mentioned) the latest being that well hidden even I lost it for a while and I knew its exact co-ords however, in a very short space of time it had been found and taken.

Yes it was saved....before anyone asks! But this seems to be a very regular occurrence.

Is it possible clan guys are using logs to trace and recover?

nope just esp hackers, they can see it like it was on a radar, distance, direction, and what type. Gluck, we are alpha testing after all. Sadly people are getting perma banned for fooling around in an alpha test, which is imo a joke. All these exploits and scripts and all the rest of it need to be found now rather than later.

So for now its more or less pointless having a vehicle in a groups possession unless its manned 24/7 then :(

so hackers hack only to "test" stuff in alpha?

no, they don't, they hack to win because they can't without, period.

and if this wasn't sad enough, you completely missed the point if you think its ok to hack in this game, because its just in alpha yet. most silly excuse.

if you find an exploit, cheat, hack, submit it to the dev's and let them take care of the rest.

@weedman i don't think hackers are that common, i actually never saw one myself. battleeye seems to do a good job afaics.

I say no mercy to hackers, they're ruining the game and really slowing down the progression. I say ban them to hell

Don't hide all vehicles to same location. Put them all around map. So if somebody finds one vehicle then you won't lost all.

Also ESP hacking isn't that common. We have never lost any vehicles due stealing and we have had almost 40 of them. I'm not sure if hacking is more problem in USA servers than European.

Finding and reporting exploits and actively using them again and again for lulz are two entirely different things.

We never hide the vehicles we get in the same location but we do hide them (which I though) extremely well.

We never take the larger vehicles either as there obviously harder to hide....but the latest vehicle being the camo jeep was so well hidden it couldn't be seen from a whole 360 run around or from the hill above.....as I said even I had trouble trying to re-find it again.

We each take turns at taking and hiding the vehicle so that the one that hid it is the only one that knows where....not that we dont trust each other, its just easier for 1 person to stay behind as the rest log off.

Weird as fuck I tell ya ;)

I've heard about server-admins tracing through the server logs for vehicles. Isn't it possible?

Confession:

I've been walking through the woods vefore, and my guy's practically racked himself on an ATV that was sitting literally INSIDE a bush. Completely hidden to anyone who didn't literally hit their character's crotch on the fender.

I took it. Obviously.

Just saying, nothing's perfectly hidden. Because there are a few people like me who have the weirdest luck.
