I am reinstalling Arma2 OA and obviously Dayz with it.. Will I lose my guy+items?

Only if you change your CD Key.

I purchased the game VIA Steam, so I assume my key will never change. Amirite?

No, your CD-Key will not change. Also, Your character and his items are tied to a database.
