fearz0r 128 Posted July 8, 2012 For example, I started off on recruit and found a load of bandages etc in a hunters thing in the woods, but later joined my mate on a veteran server, came across another hunter shack thing and there was an M16!

LeOverlord 150 Posted July 8, 2012 Trust me its better to play veteran or above.Less easy mode snipers out there that use the magical middle mouse range finder sniping you or doing a quick scroll wheel along the tree line for any survivors.Veteran settings should be mandatory to play DayZ. Mastiff (DayZ) 42 Posted July 8, 2012 Its better to play veteran when you are learning because there are less features helping people 'pvp'. The cross hair is pretty useless in my eyes but being on a server with the magic range finder and identifying tags is lame you can spot someone in a gillie suit from 500m away through dense forest by mistake. For example my first visit at the nwa I had identified a few targets within moments purely by the map tagging 'man' and the cross hair showing 'survivor'.Tldr veteran makes it harder for people to kill you but not harder to dodge zombies, it sounds counter intuitive but go for it seriously
