Svelok 0 Posted April 27, 2012 Every 15-60 seconds, the game's frames per second drop to an unplayable level. Tabbing out/back in fixes the issue every time, but it's still extremely frustrating. This is on version 1.4.23 (first version I've played, so can't say if it's a version specific problem.)I don't have the same problem with single-player ArmA, so I know it's not a graphical issue. And it happens regardless of server, so I don't *think* it's connection. Specs:Windows 7/4gb RAM/intel M430 @2.27Ghz/Geforce GTS 360M/All drivers up to date
rocket 16567 Posted April 27, 2012 I will look into this.To be honest it is probably the debug text, the good thing being that it will go. To test this I need to get you on the development server that does not have the debug text. Do you use skype or teamspeak?
bondematt 0 Posted April 27, 2012 The grass in this is turned way the hell up, it can impact performance pretty hard. I'd monitor your cards temps and see if it's an issue, can be especially bad with a laptop.
jordnz 102 Posted April 27, 2012 I'm also getting this issue. It only seems to be present since the morality update. I missed a couple of updates, but I think the last version I played (v1.4.11) didn't give me these performance drops. I also don't get them on singleplayer and vanilla ArmA 2 servers. Svelok 0 Posted April 28, 2012 Thanks for the rapid response, but as of 1.5 the issue is more or less fixed. It still pops up every once and awhile, but it's not at a point where I can reproduce it on demand anymore. Maybe it was some issue with the server-side code? jordnz 102 Posted April 30, 2012 I'm still having this issue as of v1.5.2. Pretty sure it's to do with that debug thing as you mentioned Rocket, as normal ArmA 2 servers are fine and it's not looking at any particularly intensive area that triggers it, as I still still for a number of minutes looking side to side in the same place and it would only chug every 30 - 60 seconds for about 10seconds. The rest of the time it was smooth as butter as it is in vanilla servers.I'd be happy to join a private server with no debug to test this for you Rocket, hit me up with a PM/Email - I have teamspeak.Cheers. drakenof 9 Posted April 30, 2012 Same issues here. All the 60 secs or so my FPS are dropping, to get back to their normal state 5-6 secs after that.
Goose Springsteen 9 Posted April 30, 2012 I am experiencing something similar but I'm not to the same extent it seems to happen intermittently a few times an hour with a freeze for half a second to a second.
trinsic (DayZ) 2 Posted June 11, 2012 I wanted to respond to this thread with a possible solution. It seems like dayz might put a a larger load on your video card during certain situations. My fiancee was getting frame rate drops every couple of mins and we pinpointed it to the video card becoming over heated. It was getting up to 115 degrees. So I went ahead an added an extra fan and pulled of the heat sink off and applied some arctic silver compound to the gpu (read instructions carefully with that stuff). I also blew out the heat ventilation ports because if they get clogged up they prevent heat from flowing off the heat sink. booted it back up and now its running at 75 degress and holding with no frame rate drops. If you need to check your video card temp you can try using riva tuner or or hwmonitor. there are a few others out there I believe.
