Ghosting

Recommended Posts

Is watching someone's stream and using that knowledge to find them in game.

It is NOT dc'ing and coming up behind someone =.=

Please, people, get your terminology correct.

It was sarcasm, but words made up on the internet can have different meanings/uses to different people on the internet.

He does make a valid argument. Don't see why we can't just stick to calling it D/Cing, rather than give a term dual meaning where it doesn't need one.

watching someones stream to get their position, then try to kill them is called stream sniping, sir. so pls...

using the word ghosting for someone dcing , chaning position on another server, then coming back on the first server makes totally sense.

Ghosting, or "to ghost" is The act of one or more dead players spectating an alive enemy player, with the intent of revealing his or her actions or location to their alive comrades, giving them an unfair situational advantage. This is achieved usually through a voice chat program, such as Ventrillo, or an IRC client.

^^ straight off Urban Dictionary, the terminology came from first person shooters including the Counter Strike franchise.

Stream sniping like you guys stated already is when you watch somebody's stream to be able to intercept them in favor of yourself so you can beat them. In any case you have full vision of their screen and yours so its technically like ghosting but there is nobody transferring information its the sniper getting all his info alone.

No reason to get mad boys its just a word

Yeah but you blatantly missed this part:

Player B wins because he sees everything player A is doing on his stream' date=' or player A is forced to not allow watchers to see the game, which reduces money gained from the stream, especially if they are being stream sniped repeatedly (Destiny being stream sniped by Deezer.[/quote']

which i was referring to.

good job ignoring the first and main part:

Player A is streaming and queues up for a 1v1 game.

Player B is watching and queues up at exactly the same time, and has around the same rank.

Player A and B battle.

Player B wins because he sees everything player A is doing on his stream, or player A is forced to not allow watchers to see the game, which reduces money gained from the stream, especially if they are being stream sniped repeatedly (Destiny being stream sniped by Deezer.)

-

stream sniping on dayz would be finding their server (but most streamers cover that up) to play against them, then what commences afterwards is ghosting
