professorchaos 20 Posted July 7, 2012 My question is, like in the headline, if there are any differences between the loot-chance at servers? I mean, at the first server everything was "normal" : A lot of empty tin cans, some food and drink and less better stuff. At the second server there wasn´t anything! Just wheels and scrap-metal, no food or weapons! And on the third server, i found four alice-backpacks in one supermarket, six guns in one appartment and two military weapons (M4A1 and M1014) in one fire department. Was that just luck/ no luck, or are there diffences? Thanks for an answer and sorry for my english ;-)
TheAlphaWolf 0 Posted July 7, 2012 I have seen a few servers like this. I find servers with just tin cans and car parts, and then i find servers that have lots of guns, backpacks, and no 'toolbelt' items or ammo. (sometimes no food or cola as well).
Soapy (DayZ) 1 Posted July 7, 2012 I'm quite certain that it's just the loot system itself. It has to do with several key factors.1.) The location of the loot. (Areas like Cherno, Elektro, NWAF, Stary and other airfields are looted more frequently than others)2.) The number of players on (The more people looting, the less loot there is)3.) How long the server has been up4.) If the loot has been picked up/spawned again. (Only loot piles that spawn items and are emptied spawn more, so respectively tin can piles probably wont be re-spawning any good items since no one picks them up.You also have to consider the probability of loot not spawning. For instance, a super-market has 23 loot spawns with a 60% chance of spawning loot. The probability of finding an ALICE pack in one of those spawns is 2.83%. Respectively the chance of you finding an ALICE pack is 1.698% on a server that has just been restarted and spawned loot. This is odd though, as sometimes you can walk into a super-market and find 3 ALICE packs (.000483% chance of happening) and other times you will find none. The short answer is, sometimes when a server starts spawning loot it spawns a lot of good items. Other times the loot pile may be empty and the ones that had good loot may now have tin cans. It's also nearly impossible to account for how often an area is looted given the many factors that contribute to loot being found.
andb52 12 Posted July 7, 2012 So loot does not despawn when zombies despawn? Those tin cans have to be actively picked up and removed?
WARWHORE(UWS) 5 Posted July 7, 2012 So loot does not despawn when zombies despawn? Those tin cans have to be actively picked up and removed?Me and some friends been picking up the cans and tossing them just to clean up the loot spawn area. Then come back 45min. to an hour later. Soapy (DayZ) 1 Posted July 8, 2012 So loot does not despawn when zombies despawn? Those tin cans have to be actively picked up and removed?Yes. That is my understanding. The same has been done at Stary Sobor with military items.
