How and where to find new pack?

I'm a new player starting to slowly get the hang of the game, but one thing holding me back so far is how few items I can carry. The starter pack is limited, especially since I've finally found my first gun and am juggling ammo, food, medical supplies, etc.

Any general tips on where to search for a new, bigger back? My brother found one on another dead player, but I hope to head North to avoid others and wouldn't really try to kill another player anyways. Do backpacks spawn in loot piles? If so, which ones and where would I find them most likely?

New backpacks can be found in all types of spawn locations like shops, supermarkets, cow sheds, offices, etc.

Backpacks can be found in all types of spawn locations like shops, supermarkets, cow sheds, offices, etc. I'd try the the NW supermarkets (extra care needed in Starry).

Priority 1 stuff:- bandages, morphine, drinks (water bottles can be topped up; not sure what the current risk is of getting infection from bad water?); beans

Priority 2 stuff:- hatchet, matches, knife; all stored on tool belt; removes reliance on beans.

Supermarkets for sure. Found an 2 Czech backpacks. Was super excited. Went into the next room. Found an ALICE pack. Even more excited.

Supermarkets have the same loot as other residential loot locations, but the spawn rate is higher. So it is worth going to a supermarket for food, soda, canteens, matches and a backpack when you first start out and have nothing to lose, because there is a good chance of meeting another player there.

I've already raided the Cherno supermarket and high-tailed it out of there. Got a weapon and a good amount of ammo and toosl, but no pack. I'll probably just head North and try to find a supermarket in one of those cities. Which Northern cities have supermarkets to raid? Which should I go to first?

Berezino has 2 - a north and a south one. The north (I think) is close to 3 apartments - also good places for loot and packs.

Also, there's a hospital here that's close to the treeline.

Palona has a big supermarket aswell. if you want to know all the lootable things on the map (Spoiler if you wish for vanilla though)

I'll second the guy that said Berezino. There are two sets of apartments, a 3 floor office building, and two supermarkets in a small area. It is the best kept secret and is not often populated by survivors or bandits. Between the markets and apartments there will be a Czech or Alice unless it has already been looted.

The other day I saw 2 Czechs and an Alice in the same supermarket. I wish the Czech vest pouch would be changed to where you can wear it along with a backpack, that would rock(otherwise does it serve a purpose?). Also I don't know if I have ever seen an Assault pack. Do they still exist?

The next favorite spot of mine is the apartments in Cherno(which almost always have packs too) but they are way more dangerous. Good luck!

Any of the major cities you will have a chance of finding a pack. Especially in the town houses in Cherno, the supermarket or even the fire station. They are where I find all of my packs, so I'm not too sure about other spawns.

Why I am so strong on supermarkets is I have found in one occasion 2 ALICE and a Cezch. another time, just 2 ALICE. and once more an ALICE and a Czech. Also once I have found an ALICE and a Cezch in a church.
