Using CZ550 Scope to Estimate Range

In a nutshell, 1800/n = range in meters. Where n is the height in dots over the horizontal line of your crosshairs. This is for a standing person. Use 900 rather than 1800 if the target is crouched. This method applies to all mildot scopes.

Easiest way to do so is in the reg or easy servers, just roll the mouse wheel and where you're aiming will give you the distance.

Ex: House 4m

In any server that is not easymode, you can use mildots for getting range, however since the CZ does not have those, you can only try to get it from target width, which is very unreliable if the target is not directly facing you or looking away from you.

As far as mildots and crouched or prone targets go in DayZ:

Dot-Count x 2 = Distance for crouched

Dot-Count x 6 = Distance for prone

Now all you need is a rangetable for your gun. Easy to find on google.

Can you please explain further how mildots work and how to use the "width" factor you mentioned on the CZ scope?

Last time I had my hands on a cz it had a mildot scope. Also, by your method, wouldn't targets that appear large (more dots) be farther away? By my count, a 3 dot crouched target is 300m away. You have it at 600...

Last time I had my hands on a cz it had a mildot scope. Also, by your method, wouldn't targets that appear large (more dots) be farther away? By my count, a 3 dot crouched target is 300m away. You have it at 600...

I have a CZ in my hands right now. It has NO mildots. It only has hashes that are equally spaced apart on the horizontal axis of the scope.

How about this way...

Go on the editor.

Place a US Soldier on any map wherever you want.

Paste this code into his configuation field, no parentheses:

( {this addmagazine "5x_22_LR_17_HMR",} foreach [1,2,3,4,5,6]; removeAllWeapons this; this addWeapon "huntingrifle"; this addWeapon "Binocular_Vector"; )

Now, press ok.

Then, place a civilian, and click on the arrow next to "men". Scroll down to "zombie" and start putting zombies all around the map.

Enjoy familiarizing yourself with the weapon under safe conditions.
