MidnightReverie 0 Posted May 16, 2012 I'm downloading the mod for the first time. I used DayZ Mod Updater to automatically update my DayZ mod, it's currently in the extracting files stage but it has already taken literally 5+ hours now and it's still extracting, I checked the Addon files and it doesn't seem like any new files have been added at all.Is this a glitch? Unnamed354 34 Posted May 16, 2012 Yes that is likely a glitch, I updated it last night to better handle this problem. But likely the path to your arma folder is incorrect.Try the new version, double check your path, then if all else fails it may be a a problem with administrator access/antivirus. MidnightReverie 0 Posted May 16, 2012 C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\ isn't this the correct path?
Unnamed354 34 Posted May 16, 2012 It depends on your system, that is the default folder, but if you installed steam on a different drive or directory, you'll have to update it to match.I could update it to detect the location of your steam installation later. MidnightReverie 0 Posted May 16, 2012 Well I just double checked it, that is indeed the location of my steam folder, or do I need to add \@dayz\addons at the end of the path?
Unnamed354 34 Posted May 16, 2012 Well I just double checked it' date=' that is indeed the location of my steam folder, or do I need to add \@dayz\addons at the end of the path?[/quote']No, the updater should create those folder for you, but on the offchance they didn't, try making those folders in your Operation Arrowhead folder manually, then running the updater.Perhaps there was a collision and the mod folder couldn't be created. MidnightReverie 0 Posted May 16, 2012 I manually created the folders and ran the updater, it's still taking hours to extract the files.
Unnamed354 34 Posted May 16, 2012 Extracting should only take a couple of seconds, maybe a minute. There must be something else going on, try navigating to the Arma II Operation Arrowhead folder, and pasting the path into the install tool.
MidnightReverie 0 Posted May 16, 2012 Just did that. The same thing happened. It found all the rar files in the folder, skipped all the downloading of the rar files since they already exist and skipped straight to the extracting files stage. It's still seems to freeze at that stage forever. What the heck is going on?I really want to play the mod......been downloading and extracting the mod literally since 11pm last night.can anyone please help? Unnamed354 34 Posted May 17, 2012 Updating still extracting files..................... -_-Try this version, and send me the log. I added some better error handling in the extraction process.http://dl.dropbox.com/u/66584563/DayZUpdater.zip
MidnightReverie 0 Posted May 17, 2012 That's also the same version of the DayZ updater I'm using.
Unnamed354 34 Posted May 17, 2012 If you aren't seeing any errors there is likely something external stopping the program from working, I would advise you to take the .rar files and manually install them into the proper mod folder.
MidnightReverie 0 Posted May 17, 2012 I did that too, but where and how can I update them to the latest version?I tried to get into a server, an errors occurs: your dayz.pbo are not signed by a key accepted by this server. To play on this server, remove the listed file or install additional accepted keys. What does that mean??
MidnightReverie 0 Posted May 17, 2012 what do I need to do to play a simple mod.....
timfroelich@yahoo.com 1 Posted May 17, 2012 Just to make sure you have the files correctly:Go to http://us.armafiles.info/Download all the .rar files, you don't need the changelog.txt1.) Make @dayz folder in#:\#\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead2.) Make Addons folder within the @dayz folderYour folder stucture should look like arma 2 operation arrowhead > @dayz > Addons3.) Extract all downloaded files to this Addons folder4.) In steam, right click on ARMA2: Operation Arrowhead, select 'Launch Options' and type -nosplash -mod=@dayz5.)Load ARMA2: Operation Arrowhead through steam and choose the Launch ARMA2: Combined Operations option. When the game loads, in the top right of the screen there should be a small line that says "@dayz" meaning the mod was loaded.I took some of this info from http://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3481582There is also information there to use a separate launcher program instead of steam, which is what I use and it works well. MidnightReverie 0 Posted May 17, 2012 Did everything you said. When the game loads it indeed says @dayz at the right side of the screen, the mod is loaded. But when I try to connect to a server it says: You cannot play this mission, it is dependent on downloadable content that has been deleted. timfroelich@yahoo.com 1 Posted May 17, 2012 Did you get Combined Operations on Steam? Or just Operation Arrowhead? The DayZ mod runs on OA but uses files from Arma 2 itself. You can use Combined Operations which is both, or buy Operation Arrowhead and get the Arma 2 free trial. I hear you will have some lower resolution textures if you go that route. Also, launch Steam in Administrator mode.
