All servers (no matter is it private or public shard database) has a synchronization timeout. Also possibly that there's an attacking vectors that allow to kill server out. Same as timeout for items that was placed on the ground and 'eir state. So if simplify - you have many chances to loose your loot or even crate with loot coz it's broken.
