Trench Foot

Recommended Posts

New ailment caused by prolonged movement in cold, wet boots.

Trench foot: immersion foot syndrome is a condition that can occur when your feet are cold and wet for a long period of time. It often happens when you have to wear wet socks and shoes or boots for days at a time. Prolonged exposure to damp, cold and sometimes unsanitary conditions can lead to the disease.

Symptoms: pain in feet, trouble walking, blisters, which can burst and become infected, leading to further complications.

Treatment: NSAID for blood flow, pain management, topical ointment for blisters, stay dry, reduce movement if possible.

In-game application: if a player neglects their wet boots, they will develop trench foot that progressively becomes worse if left untreated. The condition will begin with slight movement debuff (like yellow HP status) and character wincing in pain. As the condition progresses, the player moves slower and can develop infected blisters that cause symptoms of sickness (fever, blurred vision, cough), requiring antibiotics. In order to treat the condition, the player will need to dry their feet/boots, take codeine for the pain, and use ointment for blisters on their feet.
